Coming and Going...

The boys (husband and son) just got back from a cruise to Alaska on Monday night. Next Wednesday we say good-bye to Michael (son) until Christmas again. I hate this time of year just for that reason. We always miss him so much when he is with his other family. The Authentic fabric you saw in my giveaway is for a quilt for him. He loves to sit with a blanket wrapped around him in the mornings and watch TV or play video games. He lives on the East coast when away from us so the chances of being cold are a lot more likely there. I am going to start his quilt as soon as he leaves.

I ordered some of the "Rhythm and Blues" fabrics from Red Rooster for a quilt for my daughter, Erin, she adores teal.

I have been working on finishing up some UFOs. The first is this tote bag (from Moda Bake Shop) I have been using it as my own purse so it really has stuff in it...

This is what is on my work table (AKA dining table)right now. An advent calendar quilt. I got the pattern from Sew Mama Sew.

Here is a quilt top from some blocks I made about 8 yrs ago...I finally finished the top yesterday.

Amazing what you can get done with no internet to distract you!

Friendship Bag Swap...

I have had these done since about 3 days after I joined the swap I have just been too lazy to take pictures. We get our partners on the 25th (oops I was wrong earlier). This was also a tutorial from Rachel Griffiths at p.s. i quilt

A revelation, questions, then a giveaway...

Here is what I have been doing today...

On the chair back is the "scruffily" quilt top I finished. Tutorial by Rachel Griffith at p.s. i quilt for Moda Bakeshop

A fat quarter bundle of "Authentic" by Moda freshly washed and ironed

And a layer cake freshly washed and ironed...

So my few simple questions are... Am I the only one that pre-washes precuts? Do you wash all precuts or only some (say layer cakes but not honey bun strips)? I just can't bring myself to make a quilt out of unwashed fabric... and I think I am a happy martyr to ironing.

Now on to the fun part...

In an effort to get an answer to this question I am doing my first giveaway and since I just signed up for a "A year of Schnibbles" (see button to the right) my mind is on all things 5 inches square...I am giving away a full set of (pre-washed and ironed) 5 inch charms of the "Authentic" fabric from these fat quarters you see on the chair (the ones on the right). In order to win this lovely prize. All you need to do is comment on this post with an answer to either or both of my questions. You can also get a second entry if you post about it on your blog just leave a comment telling me that too. I will take entries until midnight Saturday night then use a randomizer to pick the winner. Don't forget to check back on Sunday night to see if you won.

A little bag I made a few days ago...

This is a handbag I made by using an Amy Butler pattern. I copied the pattern at 75% and made it out of 1/4 yard of fabric... and crocheted the flower brooch (tutorial found here) to add a little whimsy...

I also registered for this swap it looks like fun....

Friendship Bag Swap

Hello World

I created this blog as a crafting log. I hope that I can encourage and inspire as so many others have done for me.
