Something gorgeous and new....

Hi Everyone,

We got this gorgeous new collection in on Monday. Leah Duncan has been a favorite of mine since she worked for Anthology fabrics a few years ago. I had all of her collections. She is with Art Gallery now. A few of these prints might look familiar from one of her Anthology collections if you have been around long enough to remember those :) I really adore her florals. This is Morning Walk we have bundles available with solids and squared elements that match as well.

1000th Post And You Get The Present Giveaway

Yep, it's true this is my 1000th post on the blog... Crazy... how shall we celebrate? How about a Giveaway? I knew you would like that :) See the bottom of the post about how to enter to win my own personal re-mix of Cotton + Steel.

We have two more pre-orders posted on the website (if you didn't see the newsletter). One is for Tinsel by Cotton + Steel it is their Christmas collection which consists of quilting cottons and brushed twill and is due in May. I am super excited that Rashida did a Washi Tape print again... j'adore!

and here is a close up of the twill... so soft

The other one is Spellbound Cotton + Steel's Halloween collection. It's spooktacular... or beautifully haunting LOL It arrives in June. Just a reminder about Pre-orders they need to be purchased separately since they come in at separate times.

For the Giveaway...How about my own personal re-mix of Cotton + Steel. These are a few of my favorite prints. It includes three of the prints that I used in my Poolside tote (which isn't finished yet but soon) and my favorite of the basics (the purple and navy xoxo) the cookie cutters and peanut butter cookie prints from Cookie Book. I love the steamer trunk print from Alexia's first collection. There are canvases too! Since this is my own personal fantasy you get my favorite cuts.... regular 1/4 yds (not fat quarters 'cause I like strips for making herringbone blocks) and half yards of the canvas ('cause what can you do with 1/4 yd of canvas?) it will make a nice big lovely bundle of happiness for someone.

I got almost too much light in the front room today... sometimes having sun almost all of the time is a curse... :)

All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what new collections that are coming out are on your wish list... here are a few of mine... Ex Libris by Allison Glass, Mini Pearl Bracelets by Lizzy House, and Tula Pink's True Colors. Giveaway ends next Wednesday at Midnight Eastern Time.

Have a super huuuump-daaaaayyyy!

Pre-Order is up for Black & White by Cotton & Steel

Just thought you should know I put up the pre-order for Black & White

Last day for the sale and two more t-shirts

Hey Everyone,

Don't forget all Apparel Fabrics, Color Theory, and Shot Cottons are on sale 20% off until Midnight tonight. You don't need a coupon they are already marked down.

I am so excited that I worked out a deal with the designer of the Flora Top so we will be able to sell the patterns in the shop. I am also going to set a date to teach it as a class as it is an easily done in a day project. I made two in 3 hours by doing them assembly line style on Saturday.

These are Jeni B's Spherical Buds and Sharon Holland's Wire Flowers but any of the gorgeous Knits we have would work.

Remember that maxi skirt I shared the tutorial for the other day? This would be perfect:

... just sayin'

A sweet weekend sale....

Hey Everyone,

In addition to all of the Apparel fabric being on sale I also put Color Theory on sale 20% off ... including the fat quarter bundles and all of the Shot Cotton too.

I was inspired by Imagine Gnats Selfish Sewing Week and Riley Blake's Knit Love blog tour.

It is a good time to buy some apparel fabric and have a go.

Gloria, one of my customers, made this gorgeous dress and shared it on my Facebook page. In the link she shares a review and link to the pattern as well. It comes in plus sizes even.

And look at this fun maxi skirt from Tea Rose Home

Anyway... just a little inspiration for the weekend. Hope to be back tomorrow with pictures of two more t-shirts... they are like candy you can't make just one.

Wonderful Weekend Wishes,
Julie

Doing a little giveaway and I sewed

Hey Everyone,

Be sure to get over to Happy Quilting and enter to win our giveaway. Here is the little bundle I curated it is half yards this time:

Melissa loves purple so I always try to pick something purple for her. I am in love with that Hot House Flowers print so I designed the bundle around it.

You know I hate pictures of me... this is no exception but.. since I sewed a t-shirt for myself I guess I have no choice :) This is a knit from Fantasia by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness. It is advance yardage so the fabric is not available yet. We will have it in the shop when it does come out, though. I am lucky to be friends with her 'cause she is a sweetie!

I really like the pattern it is called the Flora Top I bought it on etsy and used my sloper to make it fit me better... I was lucky that this one was proportioned pretty much perfectly and I only made a minor modification. This is a great beginner pattern only 3 pieces including the neck facing... speaking of neck facing... normally I have a devil of a time trying to put one on a knit without it getting puckered... but look at this...

I am so proud ... haha Let's hope I can do it again.

In honor of my new T-shirt :) All apparel fabric is 20% off through Monday the 16th
This includes knit, lawn, voile, double gauze, and assorted others.
Have a wonderful Thursday!

Pretty New things... Elizabeth by Tula Pink and Wanderer by Aprl Rhodes

Hi Everyone,

Everyone has been holding their breath for Tula's Elizabeth and it arrived yesterday. After cutting the pre-orders we still have a bit left, some bundles and a few yards of each print, but it is going fast so don't miss out. I think it would be fun to make a blouse out of the chain mail print.

Here is April Rhodes' Wanderer........it reminds me of Summer in California. Something to make you warm over the rest of the Winter/Spring months.

Talk soon :)

Elizabeth by Tula Pink up for Pre-order, lots of new stuff, and what I am making!

Hi Everyone,

Lot's of new pretties to show you.

I posted a pre-order for Tula Pink's Elizabeth it will be in on Monday and pre-orders will ship on Tuesday. Still a few bundles left if you want to get it.

We got this adorable collection from Cori Dantini Called The Makers It has her sweet girls sewing, painting, stitching, knitting, crocheting, quilting... it is perfect to make a quilt or a bag or a little pressie for your favorite Maker or yourself. We also have kits for the adorable quilts. Both the blue and the pink:

We have Frock Rayon from Cotton & Steel you might want to stock up for your spring top sew along... it is hard to pick but I think this is my favorite:

We also got this gorgeous Sparkle Canvas from Cotton & Steel it is silver:

Michael Miller jumped on the band wagon with this new rainbow of a basic called Eduardo... every time we have made a bundle this week we have thrown some in to give the bundle some sparkle.

We have the new awesome Echino at a great price... both canvas and shirting... I can't wait to make a new blouse out of this shirting print:

Speaking of Canvas we got Charms by Ellen Lucket Baker in a couple weeks ago. The sheep sold in a day but they will be back in about 4 weeks. In the mean time there is a gorgeous Persimmon print that would make adorable tote bags and some double gauze for clothing... honestly I am so in love with this collection!

This one has a little metallic on it... perfect for a bag.... :)

Yes, Yes, that is all well and good but what have you been making Julie?... I am so glad you asked... I went to Stitches West (a yarn show) a couple weeks ago and bought way too much yarn... I am well and truly stocked up. This is the first thing I have made out of my new precious stash:

If you are a Raveler this is the Lattice Cowl. I made it with a yarn called K2 by Miss Babs and the color is Deep Sea Jellyfish. It is going to a friend next week. I actually made two and even though I love it I might give them both away.

I cut out and interfaced a Poolside Tote which I hope to have to show you after the weekend. I am making it with this lovely pile of yummy from Cotton & Steel.

The Tokyo Train Ride Canvas is (possibly) my favorite print from the new collections. Oh look a turquoise toe peek :)

Hope you all have a lovely rest of the week. I promise we will talk soon!

Love,
Julie
