Hi Everyone,

You know how it is when you have to come home to get a break from your vacation? The First Annual Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild Retreat was last weekend. I can't say it was really a vacation because I was actually working there too but it was a lot of fun. I can't believe it is Wednesday! I have been so busy catching up the last two days that I barely had time to turn around.

This is the small item I had time to sew there:

It is the top of my Pillow Talk Swap Pillow... the light was not great there so I will try to get a better picture once it is quilted and before I ship it off.

Woodland Tails showed up on Friday... it is so darn cute...

The cheater panels are nice and big a full yard by WOF. What I like about this is there are a bunch of fabrics that don't have pink in them so you can pick and choose and make a boy quilt with them. I am in love with the vine fabric (third from the bottom in the pink and blue stacks and second from the bottom in the green) I want to make something for me with it.

Funky Wonky Barn Quilt Tutorial

Hi everyone!! Sally here usurping Julie's blog again to share with you a quick, very fun tutorial tonight! :)

Julie sent me this stack of absolutely gorgeous fabric, Dan Bennett's Cosmos:

Julie knows me really well! She sent the Vermillion colorway of this fabulous line. I could not get over how yummy every fat quarter felt. The hand on this stuff is superlicious!!!

So I wanted to create something special with it. And it just so happens that I'm participating in a bi-weekly challenge right now called Project Quilting. This week's challenge was to create a block for a Barn Quilt. Now a barn quilt is usually about 8'x8' and is one big block. (love this concept!!!) As I have been delving into these challenges, I have started to really combine my love of traditional quilting with more modern techniques, and this quilt is no different!

So instead of just showing my "barn quilt" off, I'm going to share with you how I did it, so if you want to recreate a fun "barn quilt" with fat quarters, you can, too!!

What we are making:

No doubt you've heard of the Wonky Log Cabin block. Well, I just expanded it and made it into its own quilt! yay!

Here's what you need:

This fat quarter pack from Julie's store: Cosmos Vermillion

Premium bleached and unbleached muslin (width 90")

Embroidery thread - white (optional)

Quilter's hoop (optional)

Embroidery needle (optional)

batting and backing (52"x52" each)

A couple of notes:

You can use Moda Bella solids for the light side of the block - (get those here!) I personally love the muslin because you can get it in wider widths, which I use for most of my quilt backs (who has time to piece those suckers?).

And the embroidery thread is for hand quilting the middle block. You can machine quilt it all if you want! (or you can hand quilt it all!! I'm not picky!)

Let's make this quilt!

You can fussy cut your middle block. You want it to be a 12" square. Figure out which part of the fabric you want to show off. This is one of the reasons I picked this block...I wanted something that would show off the fantastic designs on the fabric!

Grab your first fat quarter (you will cut 6 this very same way) and cut it long ways (21") into 2 4"strips.

Sew that first strip onto the left of the block. Now, my darling friend Julie would teach you that you should measure out your strip exactly to a 4"x12" strip and then sew it on. In usual cases, this is true. But we are wonking it up here, so go ahead and sew the whole strip on, press it with the seam going to the strip, and trim that little extra part off.

Sew the second strip to the top of the block. Press and trim.

Grab your unbleached muslin and cut a 4" strip.

(when my left edge is uneven, I cut it about 3/8ths too big and then flip the strip and trim. just a little tip when working with a big pile of fabric. :) )

Sew the strip to the left of the block, press and trim. Then sew the rest of the strip onto the bottom. Press and trim! :)

Now it is time to what I call "wonk it up!!!"

Let me show you a pic of what I mean...

Put your ruler on the bottom of one corner and have a graduated strip of the edge ready to be cut off. This is "wonking" it up! You don't want your angles to be 90degrees. You want it to be a little funky!!

*if this bothers you, don't do it!! It's okay to have a straight 90degree corner quilt. The quilt police will not kick you off the island. And likewise they won't kick you off if you are a little off, too!! :)

Do this same process on all 4 sides. For all of the math geeks out there, yes, you will have a rhombus when you are done! :)

Now, add your next fat quarter (2 4" strips to the right and top of your quilt.) and your next bleached muslin. I loved the idea of alternating bleached and unbleached. I love white space (another modern technique!) so that's why I went that direction!

Follow the above steps of pressing and trimming and then you know what to do!!

"wonk it up!!"

The next fat quarter you use, you will need to sew two strips together to have a big enough strip to go on the side and top.

When you sew the strips together, press your seam open. It keeps the bulk down and seems (pardon the pun!) smoother. If you are morally opposed to pressing the seams open, no worries! Again, no quilt police to vote you off the island! :)

After these fat quarter strips and the muslin strips, wonk it up the opposite way. Put your ruler on the top of the strip and cut the edges off in a graduated manner.

This makes it even wonkier. I love this technique!! :)

Here's what my quilt top looks like at this point!

Continue adding the last three fat quarters always using 4" strips pieced to fit the sides, alternating with the unbleached muslin and bleached muslin.

Tip: you can always order full quarter yards or half yards of this gorgeous fabric from Julie to not have to piece the strips. But I'm kind of a fat quarter-a-holic, so I love this process. The last fat quarter will take all of the strips pieced together with even the trimmed part added back on (unless you wonk more than I did! LOL!!). Don't be dismayed by this. I think it adds character!! :) And I love to get the best from all of the fabric I get!!

After all of your piecing is done, this is what your quilt top should look like. Isn't it awesome?

Add your batting and backing and pin baste (or spray baste if that is your thing!)

Now comes the cool part....quilting it!

I chose to hand quilt the middle block to add some of the "traditional" feel ...with folky big stitches using embroidery thread (white). I used circles, because that is what was prominent in that middle block.

You can machine quilt it starting in the middle, too...I just happened to have 3.5hours to spend at the car detailing place so I could do the handwork! (LOL!!! I had to get that in there...my car was really big and really messy!!)

I am even more in love with this fabric after doing this handwork!!!

For the rest of the quilt, I wanted linear quilting. This portrays the "modern" feel right now, and I wanted that in my wonky funky quilt.

My darling friend Julie taught me a trick with linear straight line quilting ...

I just followed the edges of the tape to quilt it! Soooo super easy!!

And once that was done, I just added my binding with my last fat quarter and left overs of other fat quarters (2 3/8ths strips) and it is done!!!

This is my quilt on my barn wall..okay, it's my backyard...Mr Gorgeous had to put the gnome up there.

We are a wild bunch! Just ask Julie..she's been here to see us first hand! :)

I hope your weekend was not spent like mine... taxes and inventory... yuck! I did get a few seconds to sew though. Hi Everyone!

Most of the time, when I meet with sales reps, I try to pick fabric that I think you all will love. Of course, it is my business to bring you things you love and want. Sometimes I am not sure what you will go for so I miss the mark. Sometimes I buy something because it speaks to my soul even if I am not sure how you will receive it. There is a fabric collection coming this week from Westminster that is one that spoke to my soul. I have been anticipating this line for months and I am so excited. Have you ever heard of Dan Bennett? He is an artist. This is his third fabric collection. It is called Cosmos:

These tiny pictures don't do it justice... the border print (second one down on the left in each picture) is really cool. Well, you know that the Azure colorway is my fave but I am sure that the Vermillion is Sally's fave :) Did you know that I take Sally with me to appointments at Quilt Market to help me pick warm toned fabrics since they aren't my thing? It is good to have friends.

Sometimes I have to take a chance. Last year it was Pernilla's Journey which did really well, thankfully. Well I hope you all can see the potential in this one too. I can't wait to get IRL pictures so you can see how cool these are.

Wow! I am actually doing a Monday post... it has been weeks.

How was your weekend? Mine was a bit busy. Saturday was the monthly meeting of the Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild. We are so fortunate to have so many talented people in our guild. One of those is our Joy-Lily. She is the author of this book:

You can pick up a copy at amazon. (I used Joy-Lily's link so she would get the amazon credit :) )

Joy-Lily spoke to us about her book and about the process of getting published. It was a great time. Then we got a fun trunk show of the quilts from the book... here are a couple of my favorites:

Afterwards we had cake and Joy-Lily graciously signed books for us. (I bought one and you can bet there will be a little Friday happiness happening here with it... if you know what I mean ;) )

Normally my husband and I host a Superbowl party but this time he had to leave for a business trip early in the morning on Sunday. So I actually got to stitch for a few minutes. I am a tiny bit late with Sunni's block from the Stash Bee for January... but I think it came out pretty cute...

Don't tell me who won the Superbowl I recorded it and will watch it with the super hubby on Saturday :) Now I will make like an ostrich so I don't hear about it :)

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday was crazy over here! So I am just getting around to having a nice Monday LOL.

While I was working last night (at 11:30 PM) I noticed that my sweet friend, (and quilt guild president) Adrianne, had picked up a few things in the shop.

I had told her on Saturday (at our sew day) that I would do a custom bundle named after her for fun, if she wanted to pick some fabrics for it. So I am going to choose 9-12 of these fabrics to bundle up for everyone. She did a post about it today on her blog and a quilt design with the fabrics... go take a look! I love that girl!

Sew day was so fun and I got two more Swoon blocks done. I haven't had a chance to take a picture of them yet. I will try to get to that today so you can see them tomorrow. I love the 2nd and 3rd blocks way more than the first one... but I knew I would :)

I think I might have over estimated the amount of fabric I will save but it is still pretty significant probably somewhere between 1/2 yard and 1 yard. You should do your own calculations before you buy your fabric if you don't want to under buy...

The method that Melissa used in her Flying in Squares quilt here is what I was talking about. It is step two. But there she doesn't give you the calculations to make these for other quilts. So this is what you do... the fabric that is going to become your goose (the center triangle) needs to be a square that is 1 1/4" bigger than your finished block's width. In Swoon the geese are 6.5 x 3.5 unfinished so you need the square to be 7 1/4 (because the geese are 6" finished) then the small triangle fabric (the side triangles) needs to be 7/8 bigger than the finished height of the goose, in this case 3 7/8. You need one big goose fabric square and 4 small side fabric squares. When you put them together you get 4 geese out of these pieces. So:

1- 7 1/4 sq + 4- 3 7/8 sqs
is equal to
4- 6.5 x 3.5 rectangles + 8- 3.5 sqs

If you drew this out you would see that you are basically saving a little less than half of the fabric making them this way.

My First Swoon Block

Hi Everyone,

As promised I am back with my first Swoon block... I finished it yesterday morning. I decided to just cut one and make it since I am deviating from the pattern and making no waste flying geese to save fabric. I wanted to make sure my calculations were correct before cutting the whole quilt. If I calculated correctly it will save me about a yard and a half of white fabric... and that is pretty good :) I am using the Art Gallery Pure Elements White Linen for the background and I am so in love with it.

Hi Everyone!

It is a Holiday for some of us! No shipping today so I have a little less pressure but will still be getting working done. The Newsletter came out last night. I hope you got yours because there are some super fun projects in there.

Here is the bundle that I put together that is inspired by Maureen:

A few days ago she showed some fabrics on her blog in these colors and when I told her I would love to do a custom bundle out of those colors she came up with a few suggestions. I got the bolts out and put together three in each color that I thought coordinate well. You can find the bundles here. What do you think?

I was so inpspired by these colors that I decided to use them as the basis for my Swoon-Along quilt. Here are the fabrics that I picked all together:

Nose to the grindstone here :) How is everyone's New Year's Resolutions coming? I am trying to Balance but it is difficult :) Lookie what showed up yesterday:

New Art Gallery Basics and A Birthday

I got a box of yummy yesterday... I decided to do a Color Of The Year bundle in Tangerine with a few of the Impressions prints and a bunch of the Art Gallery Basics... I think I love it!

Today is my baby's 14th birthday... where has the time gone? She is gonna kill me for this :)

Hi Everyone,

As busy mom's (yes, I know there are men reading too but you don't suffer from this as much as women so you have to bear with me here), wives, business women, workers, girl Fridays...what have you, we can sometimes get down on ourselves. We always have guilt that we don't spend enough time with our children, that we messed them up so bad that they will never turn into productive adults, that we can't concentrate at work because yada yada at home it going on... I am declaring it is "You are awesome" day!

This is the day when you give yourselves a break! Your kids aren't going to graduate high school in diapers! They will some how manage to live with their dysfunctional childhood just like we all did. Not only that you have done an awesome job just by getting them to school today with their PB&J sandwich. You get to take a break because you have done everything right this morning (no really, you did). Today everything you have done or will do is just what was supposed to happen and it will all turn out perfectly! Every time you have a thought that something went wrong turn it around and say "That was perfect!"

Not only that... you are not fat today. You don't need to lose weight you are perfect just the way you are! You aren't too skinny either, perfect remember? Don't beat yourself up over that extra piece of chocolate today because it is helping you to maintain your perfection :)

If any of your friends says I need to lose weight tell them how perfect they are. Even better write a tiny little note to at least two friends today to tell them how perfect they are. How much you love them and wouldn't change a thing about them. Be sincere, they will appreciate it :)

Go forth and be awesome... and pass it on!

Hi Everyone,

I didn't forget! Sundays are just busy around here. So that is why this post is later in the day :) Thanks so much to everyone that has emailed about contributing! I promise I will get back to you all if I haven't already. I was just a bit overwhelmed with the response, so now I am re-thinking how to handle it :)

I have been perusing new fabrics the last few days and I just had to show you this:

It is the apron panel from Serenade (Kate Spain's new fall collection coming in the summer) SO CUTE!

I sewed until after midnight last night but I took 7 hours off in between to visit with friends so it was only about 4 hrs of sewing yesterday. I finished all 34 blocks I wanted to make for my quilt but I am not sure I like them so will wait until I have them laid out to decide :)

Do you guys ever think to yourself a whole wonderful blog post with lots of witty lines and things, and then forget half of it when you sit down to write? I did that yesterday. Oh well :) I am gonna sew today... this makes me giddy with excitement!

I wanted to show you my Secret Santa gift from the Twitter #SSSwap... umm can I just say when I got the box and saw the return address I squeeeeed :) Literally! My husband thought I hurt myself. :) I was jumping around going "Elizabeth Hartman is my Secret Santa" Totally lost on him of course... So you may have seen this on her blog her pictures are way better than mine:

Now I have a request... Those of you that receive my newsletter know that it is all about fun and giving back to you, not a huge sales pitch or anything. I would love to have one new "Guest" each month contribute to the offerings. If you don't know about the newsletter, we write 2 or more tutorials for you each month just for fun and inspiration.

I will send the guest contributor a free pack of fabric the month of their guest post to make their tutorial with (I usually let you pick your own fabrics unless I have too many from one collection).

It is my 400th post yay! We got there finally... actually I planned it to be today... sorta :) Our own little New Year's party of sorts.

Nezumi has her party hat on! (Okay the only reason I put this picture here is.... that hat is the only thing I sewed in all of December) Pitiful!

So why not start the new year off with a bang... or a windfall... of fabric of course. It is that time of year again... I know you think I mean Christmas but really...It is that time of year when a million Quilt Alongs are getting started. This one caught my eye so I thought I would mention it:

I called it "Better Than Mistletoe" because flowers will get my hubby more kisses than mistetoe will :) The minute I saw Flora I thought Christmas... I know... weird LOL I hope you like it. It is seriously an easy project.

And since you asked... Here is the large cuff all blinged up:

A bezel with vintage papers, Ice Resin, two rows of rhinestones,some freshwater pearls, crystals and silk ribbon. Kinda pretty :) I also spent about 5 hrs the other night working on a bracelet for my friend Deanna. I gave it to her yesterday but forgot to take a picture of it. Maybe I can get one later...

What I Did Over My Winter Vacation.

Okay... it was really over a Winter Weekend but it felt like a vacation.... Saturday was the December meeting of my Modern Quilt Guild (Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild) So many pretties on display...

Like this Walk In The Woods Quilt by Alison (on the far left). Alison works for C&T publishing.

And this gorgeous little quilt by Colleen with Heather Ross' Far Far Away.....

Sunday, I was a bad girl and played hooky from Church and Small Group to take a class from the incomparable Kristen Robinson at A Work Of Heart.

Her jewelry designs make me drool. She had pieces for sale there at a trunk show and wow it was hard not to buy them all. This is her book...

These are just a couple of the pieces she shows you how to make in her book. The examples are gorgeous and inspiring and she makes them so easy.

Here are the beginnings of what I made in class:

These aren't finished yet because I have to wait for the resin to cure before I can finish. The cuffs started out as flat shiny blank cuffs. We learned to etch them using stamps and alcohol ink and ... well it is etching.. acid.

Eventually they will have bezels attached and lots of bling... here are some of the bezels I picked up at AWOH for further Ice Resin work (and the one that I already did for attachment to the large cuff):

Friday Fun Day... It must be Giveaway day again :)

H Everyone,

There will be lots of fun giveaways going on this month all over but I am hosting my own this week instead of sending you to one of the other blogs I sponsor... I do that sometimes :) I wanted to show you what I made in my free time from 2 AM to 6 AM yesterday morning :)

I made this little zip bag for my Twitter Secret Santa Partner. I wasn't really trying to make diamonds, just something more interesting than a 9 patch. I kinda like how they have an illusion of floating or bobbing like buoys. She loves Tula Pink and got in late on the craze for Neptune so I am stuffing it with some Neptune, Parisville, and Hushabye Fat Quarters too.

Since Petal Pushers came in yesterday I thought I would give away my Sample Spree Fat Quarters

That's quite a few fat quarters :) I am gonna make you work for it. Poor you, you have to go look at fabric :) Since I spent hours working on the coming soon page on my website I want someone to see it. Rendezvous Winter Table Topper Picture Tutorial

Hi everyone!! This is Sally sneaking in and postingfor Julie today!! Isn’t it so sweet of Julie to let me take over her blog???(very trusting!! LOL!!!)

Today I’m going to share a unique tutorial!! It’sunique for several reasons:

First, this is going to be an ALL PICTURE tutorial,which means that you will be able to figure out how to make this by looking atthe pics only! You can click on the pics to make them bigger...(I’ll give you measurements and little hints here and there!!LOL!!)

Second, the pictures of this tutorial were taken intwo different states!! Yes!! I started this project in Julie’s work room! (that's right,that magical place that has all of her fabric bolts and goodies!) I sewed allof the blocks on her fun machine, too!! Then I came home to Texas and finishedit all in my little studio! Yay!!

So without furtherado, here is the project:

The Rendezvous Winter Table Topper Picture Tutorial

To make the halfsquare triangles, cut your squares 3 7/8”.

Cut your middlesquare 12”x12”.

And use a die cuttingmachine like an Accuquilt Baby Go cutter to cut out these cool trees!

Let's put this thing together!!

A couple of hints: Put fusible web on the back of your fabric before you cut out your appliqued trees. Also, you can quilt it however you want, but when I did it, I used a little bigger stitches, which I love!

Monday, Monday....

Hi Everyone!

Oh my goodness! I am sorry I have been so quiet the last week... Today starts the 4th and last day of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale and I have spent the last 3 days, literally (I promise I am not exaggerating) 15 hrs a day cutting and wrapping. Even on my Birthday... eeps! I also updated my coming soon page on the website so go take a look at all of the awesome that is coming. I took a moment this morning to take a couple pictures (in the dark... excuse the quality).

Some Sunni loves me ... because she sent me this adorable notebook for my birthday. Wasn't that sweet of her? She covered it in some of the solids I sent her and some Hometown. It is so adorable! Reminds me of a sunrise ... le sigh...

After all of this crazy busy I am taking Wednesday off to sew some cute outfits for this adorable girl. Her name is Nezumi (means mouse) 'cause she has silver hair (my daughter named her). She was my birthday pressie from the best Hubby ever! (I am part of a Yahoo group called Creepy Old Ladies That Play With Dolls LOL) But I am not that old... for all of you that were guessing my age I am not 50 and I am not 25 but I am closer to the former than the latter :)

I will also be whipping up a little Sumthin' Sumthin' for my Twitter Secret Santa partner with this here Neptune. (I mean really ... just use it already) LOL She is a die hard Tula Pink fan.

Thank goodness it is Friday, ya know what I mean? What a crazy busy week! The Fun in this Friday is this amazing magazine that Amanda put together. It was photographed at the UP House. So cute! And it features projects from some of my favorite people like Brooke, Sally, and Jana.

Melissa, Sunni , and Sasha are new friends but no less cherished (lucky me I get to meet Melissa this week). Brooke, Sally, and Jackie are old friends (I met them in January LOL) but we are soul mates and I always know they are in my corner as I am in theirs. I am so blessed.

One more very special friend is my friend Becky. I met Becky through this blog. She is a new quilter and we hit it off instantly. She was the one that introduced me to Mixed Media Art and we share books across the miles. I love this girl! Here is a piece of art that she made that showed up across the miles for me one day:

She is such a doll! So all of this to say Happy Birthday girlie! Hope you have a wonderful one!

No More Pity Parties! Playing with Echo.

Hi Everyone,

I promise no more pity parties... I spent a little time with EQ6 yesterday and started designing a quilt for Echo. I went to get a Free Spirit Designer Solid Color card, to check what I needed for the background, and low and behold, I already had some great matches.

These are the cool tone fabrics. Love this color combo!

And these are the warm tone fabrics. Oh dogwood I love you so....

I am thinking about bundling the solids with the prints what do you think?

Yesterday, I obviously had time on my hands, I created Gift Certificates for the shop. So all of you that say you wish you could get so and so can tell your friends and relatives what you need for a Holiday gift. You won't have to worry that they will get you the wrong thing :) They can be found here.

I still get comments from people that don't know I have a shop. So just saying for the record... I have a fabric shop :) Come visit it sometime I have the best prices around.

Hi Everyone,

My goodness Monday was a blur. Super busy in the shop and no time to blog. I am so happy because The Woodlands should be here today. I just love me some Khristian Howell... here are just a couple of my faves from this collection:

Well really I can't pick a fave... I love them all did you see the acorns? To die for!

So many new fabrics coming Echo should be here really soon as well as Power Pop, Happiness and Pear Tree.

I have people tell me sometimes that the reason they like reading my blog is they can tell how much I love fabric. It's true ever since I was a little girl I have had a fabric stash even before I could sew.... one of the things I like most about fabric and art is that you can sometimes find fun little things, if you look closely, that you might over look otherwise. Here are two of my latest discoveries that I think are so fun:

This is the print called Secret Window from Flora Look in the little window... a moon and stars and a little spiderweb. I love it!

This is Garden Damask from Flora... see the little bunnies and the bee and the hummingbirds? I love it! Oops I say that a lot don't I? I really do love it though. I have been enjoying rolling these fabrics out to cut they are so pretty in person and the hand is so lovely and soft. I also love the little flowers in the selvages.

Do you love to inspect your fabric close up and find all of the little surprises the designers put there for you? I bet you do :)

MQG Today and About the Newsletter

Sample Spree and Swag Galore

Sorry so late getting back with this I had a ton of orders to get out today... I also have my Habitat Challenge quilt to finish... it will be a late night.

Two free books and some free patterns and templates.

Sample Spree from Moda... (had to share so it has been pulled apart) From Left: A Walk In The Woods by Aneela Hoey, A Stitch In Color by Malka Dubrawsky, Good Fortune by Kate Spain. The little stuff in the middle was what Mistress Hoey was serving up on her platter.

Someone asked me what Aneela had on the platter in the picture and this is it. 2 1/2" squares of a bunch of new lines.

Shadow Flower (I didn't get to buy this for the shop) Echo (I definitely bought this for the shop) and Petal Pushers (also on the way to the shop).

Art Gallery Paradise, Oval Elements, and Bespoken. The Ovals are coming the others are already out so I have two other collectiosn from Art Gallery coming instead.

Sally and Lynette Anderson I have a story about her read below.

Everyone was wonderful I hate having my picture taken... and why oh why did I wear something like that on the first day of the show??? I am so stupid... okay enough...

Poor Lynette Anderson and her husband were on my flight from Houston to DFW it was an hour late and they missed their flight home (so did I) it was much worse for them than any of the rest of us. They live in Australia and Qantas has been on strike for a few weeks. So all of the passengers have been backed up trying to get home. The last I saw them the ticket agent was saying the first flight out was next Sunday (6 days) Lynette's husband was going to miss a lot of work it was really really bad. So here is praying that they got home sooner.

Okay ... back tommorrow with my haul from Sample Spree... hope you are having a wonderful week.

I'm Ba-ack... Market -the fabrics

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a chance to follow along on twitter or facebook while I was away. Other than the return flight problems (spent an unplanned night in DFW) I had a great time at Market. I got home yesterday morning. Here are some picures of fabrics and quilts. The people pictures are coming tomorrow.

Echo in all it's glory. It is coming to the shop this month.

Ty's Ties this is the latest collection from Ty Pennington. It will be here in December.

More of the new Impressions fabrics. I am so in love with the medallion fabrics and the leaf fabrics.

Market Bag and The Gangs All Here

Hi Everyone,

This will be a quick blog post... there is just so much to do before I leave at oh dark thirty tomorrow morning. While I am gone I will be posting sporadically if you follow me on Facebook you will get the whole low down as it happens. Because I now have an HTC Status... so I can post pictures fast and easy :)

As promised a pic of the bag I made myself for Market. I have been wanting to make a bag with my Parisville stash for the longest... so here it is. I made a backpack. It should make things easier. Sally's idea :)

Meet the Gang is all here and in the shop.

And the Pezzy Prints followed the gang home... they all showed up yesterday.

It is possible that the Newsletter might be a day or two late. I will do my best to get it out but since I won't be home it might not get done until I get back. Sorry about that.

I am closing the shop for two days because I won't be able to ship anything until Tuesday. It will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Getting All My Ducks In A Row... And Waddling Them To Market

Hi Everyone,

I can't believe I have to pack tomorrow. My flight is in the wee hours of Thursday morning. I had 5 things that were on my list to finish before the first weekend in November. Here is the latest finish that has to be in the mail before I go:

Finished it Sunday night. It will be hard to say goodbye to it. I heart it for sure.

The last thing on the list is my Habitat challenge quilt for the Modern Quilt Guild. It isn't done but I have 4 days when I get home to work on it. It is all laid out and just needs to be appliqued and bound. I don't want to show it because I want it to be a surprise for the guild. I am pretty happy with myself for getting everything done.

So since most of my have tos were done I made myself a bag for Market. I will show it to you tomorrow. I don't know why but I always feel like I need a new bag when I go to Market.

Lucky you - attending quilt market - I would love to win some Delighted and / or a pin cushion kit. The bottle cap idea is amazing for a pin cushion. Thanks for the giveaway. Oh! returned to look at the solids - they are lovely. Sometimes solids are loosely woven, so knowing these have a silky feel is a plus.
