  1. My word for the new year is Patience. I tend to not have very much of it but would like to cultivate more. Awesome giveaway. Happy New Year!

  2. Never thought of giving the New Year a "word." I think mine would be "finish" as in all the UFOs I have!

Thanks again for the chance to win!

  3. Balance is what I need this year as well....thanks :)

  4. I was asking family members yesterday what their word for the year was and they all looked at me as if I were from another planet!! lol I think that my word for the year is 'organize'.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I don't really have a word for the year, but I want to be happier this year so I guess that could be my word. Thanks for a chance at another lovely giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think mine would have to be finish also. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't really have a word for the year. But I like Patience (as I see someone else has chosen). I am expecting my 2nd child next month and I know Patience is going to be needed in large quantities!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Mine is probably "Change" -- I'm getting married and likely moving to a new city!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think my word for the year will be fortitude. I've been working in the same office with the same three ladies for seven years now. It's getting really old, but looking for a different position just isn't in the cards until after hubby graduates with his Master's...in May of 2013. So lots of fortitude required until then!

Thanks for the chance to win!

  10. I think mine is 'balance' too. Clara is 5 months old and I am still struggling with the balance of her, chores, blogging, sewing, family, and church. 2012 is going to be the year I figure it all out!!!

  11. odd! I posted but don't see it. Anyway, my word is "individuate." this word is used when teenagers assert themselves away from their parents. I think I've been following so many blogs to gain inspiration but in the end holding myself back, unwilling to try to do my own thing. This year I'm donning the big girl pants and marching to my own drummer!

    ReplyDelete
  12. My word is completion. Less UFOs, more finishes!

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's funny! I saw this idea of a word for 2012 a few weeks ago and Balance was what I posted as well. I have a tendency to throw myself completely into one thing and neglect others so I need to be more even in how I use my time.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think my word of the year would be Forgiveness. Forgiveness for myself, and those around me.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  21. My word for 2011 was Calm. I have to admit, my efforts paid off and I was a lot less frantic than in the past. I haven't quite decided about "the" word for 2012. Right now, I think it will be "allow." I often hold back on doing things because I'm afraid I will make the wrong choice or make a mistake. I have to lighten up and allow myself the freedom to make choices even they don't turn out as perfect as I want them to be.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think my word for this year might be "improve". Life is good, I'm content, but we always need to improve - I can improve on taking care of myself - getting better nutrition, getting to the gym more consistently - I can improve the quality of what I offer my family - better meals, more time, more substance.

I've made a good start as I just finished the Sweetwater Tote that was in the International Quilt Festival Winter 2011/2012 issue. It turned out just great. 71. My word for 2012 is INGENUITY.

I'm finally coming off a job furlough that was a big annoying pothole on my road to financial security. This old motto applies: "Use it up. Wear it out. Make it do, or do without."

I've been trying to turn my stash into cash relying heavily on things I have on hand except for custom or special orders. I've also been creating smaller items using scraps from my larger items.

  87. My word for 2012 is going to be "try." As in, "just try it." Sort of like when my mom used to have to coax me to try new food by just getting me to try that first bite (who knew I would actually end up loving most vegetables...thanks mom!). Lately I've been getting less and less adventurous in my creative endeavors and I'm hoping to turn that around by coaxing myself into just trying a little bit of something new and seeing if I actually end up loving it.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  102. I've never had a New Year's word, but mine would be Family.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Picking one word is hard. I thought about "create" and "enlighten," but I think this year, I'm going with one of my all time favorite words...Shimmy.
Because it can mean learning something new (like layering on with shimmies in bellydance), being creative, and just not taking oneself too seriously!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  111. I like another commenter's word: FINISH. As in don't procrastinate (a big weakness for me)

    ReplyDelete
  112. I do the word of the year thing backwards and choose it to describe the past year instead. And my word for 2011 was growth.

    ReplyDelete

Great giveaway prize - thanks for the chance :)

  140. I don't have a word for the new year. But my goal is to try and learn something new every week. This week I learned to make tissue holders. I made a bunch for my quilt club that meets tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I love your word Balance! So many great words in the comments as well. I'm not sure how to shorten "be in the moment" to one word, so these are my words. Seems like life and time has been flying by, each year faster than the previous. My grandson just turned one year. My son is being deployed to Afghanistan in April. My daughter will be entering nursing school soon. I can't slow down time but I can control how I handle each day. I will be in the moment with who and what we are doing at that moment. Not planning dinner or thinking about errands.

Thank you for your super giveaway and a chance to win. Thank you for reminding us to stop and do some reflecting and our thoughts and goals for the New Year.

I spent way too much time last year on my computer and rarely touched my sewing machine. I have spent the past four days already weaning blogs that I do not read often enough to justify my time going to them. Yes, it's just one click but, then that one click takes time away from my sewing.

So yup ~ my word is CREATE! (also could be translated to GET OFF YOUR COMPUTER! haha)

Of course YOUR blog is not one of those I will be giving up. ;)
