Happy Monday and a Baby Bunting...

Monday, July 30, 2012
Hi Everyone.

I hope you had an awesome weekend. I had a busy one. I got up early on Saturday and went to Joann for a sale (yes, I shop there for other things besides fabric) I bought a big organizer for my jewelry makings and a rolling cart for my sewing machine. Since my little 10 lb travel machine died and I have to carry my 40 pounder around, I needed that. Then I came home and made a baby quilt for my sister in law (due in December). I passed that off to someone else to quilt so I would have more hours in my day to make baby clothes. This is the item that I finished in the time it would have taken to quilt the quilt:

A baby bunting with a matching hat. I mean the poor thing is going to be born in December in Canada she needs warm stuff. By the way this is the easiest pattern would even be great for beginners that are not afraid of zippers. Simplicity 5720

You see it is a bit of an emergency ... My husband booked a flight to Canada (where my in-laws are) for this Friday the 3rd. So I am sending all of the gifts with him so I don't have to pay $50 in shipping costs LOL. He will be taking a full size quilt for his Mom's birthday and the baby presents. So when I am finished working everyday this week I am going to be making baby stuff. I have tons of baby patterns that I ordered from Tie Dye Diva they are so stinking cute and if you buy three you get 25% off. I am not getting compensated for the edorsement I just think her stuff is too cute!

Tell me what you created this weekend... even if it was only dinner (I need new ideas for dinner).

Thinking about color...

Wednesday, July 18, 2012
Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a super week... Look at what Design Seeds did today:

So pretty... but you knew I would love this right?

I was thinking about starting a monthly or quarterly club based on the Pantone Colors of the seasons and color of the year. They were perfectly right this year with the Tangerine don't you think? Would you guys like to see a monthly club or maybe a quarterly club with colors from the season represented in fabrics as stash builders? If not then what would you like to see for a monthly or quarterly club? I would love your suggestions.

Happy Monday...

Hi Everyone,

What a crazy weekend. I am sorry that the coupon code from the newsletter wasn't working until this morning. There was some kind of problem that I had to get the webhost to fix. It should be good to go now.

The Birds and the Bees is flying off the shelves if you made a purchase late Friday or after your order might be delayed one more day. I will work as fast as I can to get them all out but I didn't anticipate the flood of orders.

I just marked down all of Moda (except the solids they are already super low) to 30% off MSRP. Still some awesome Lucy's Crab Shack, Serenade, Quilts Blocks, Vintage Modern, and Summersville left.

My friend Kathleen is having a giveaway on her blog. She is giving away this lovely bundle of The Birds and The Bees:

So head on over and enter to win yourselves some. (I did not sponsor this so all thanks goes to her. She did buy it in my shop though :) )

I was gone most of the day yesterday. First Church then a much anticipated concert. I went to see two of my favorite artists performing together... Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. I am fairly certain it was the best concert I have ever been to. Wow! Just so awesome. I didn't get home until midnight.

Hope you all have an amazing week...

Talk soon!

Amy Butler's latest Cameo... It is so gorgeous... love love! It is coming to the shop today ... Can't Wait. Also The Birds and The Bees, Pagoda Lullaby, and Cameo Voile (can't wait to make some new summer blouses with this).

A discount code for the book... and other stuff

Thursday, July 12, 2012
Hi Everyone,

Good News Amanda the Generous has given us a 20% discount code to buy the book (An Apple A day) the Coupon Code is BLOGTOUR ... I hope you get a chance to pick one up.

I am sure most of you have seen this but sweet Maureen had her tutorial on the Art Gallery Blog this Monday and I didn't get a chance to post about it.

Look how awesome!
As a matter of fact you should just go over to Maureen's blog and take a look through the whole week she has been super productive and all kinds of tutorials and fun going on over there. She is also hosting a giveaway for me tomorrow so come back and see us... PS LillyBelle should be restocked in about a week.

About 2 weeks ago I took a class from the Awesome Kate Richbourg it was all about how to use a mini torch to fuse fine silver links... so much fun playing with fire. I had a torch already but I was afraid of it. Now I am loving it... here is a picture of my chain I made and my fingers LOL

Not too bad for my first attempt if you look at the left side those are my first links then the right are my last ones... much smoother with practice. We made jump rings then fused them with a torch (if you click the link you can see some of the process) then I flattened mine and pulled some of them into the oval shapes. There is a picture of my arm and the clasp we made at the link as well... second to last picture :)

Then last weekend I took another etching class and made more fun antique-ish metal pieces to put into my jewelry creations.

I cut out my Bella Brick Quilt on Monday I can't wait to get started on sewing it... hopefully this will be our bed quilt.

So there you go... lots of little bits...

I found a place I want to rent for the shop,  it is a mile away from home and next door to our local post office how perfect is that? Let's see if I can negotiate it... LOL

There is a ton of fabric coming this week ... okay maybe it is a little over 1/4 ton (about 600 lbs) so what is your favorite print from Birds and the Bees? I think this one is mine...

it isn't even my normal favorite colors but I just love it!

So is it time to have a winner of the Apple Of My Eye Book and the Necklace Kit? I think so...

I sewed...

Hi Everyone,

I know it is hard to believe but I actually sewed last weekend. I just made this simple zipper bag but 1) It was something I wanted to do and not something I had to do 2) I cut into some stash that I adore 3) I got to use the latest fabric from the shop Essex Linen

I cut into my precious Melody Miller Typewriters.... eep.... and matched them with the Medium Aqua linen. I only have two colors of Linen so far (I was overwhelmed at Market and couldn't make a decision) but I will be adding more in the next couple weeks.

I made this for my Pillow Talk Swap Partner to send along with her Pillow.

I loved how this Erin McMorris fabric went with it so that is the lining. It has a fun orange zipper.

Don't forget about the book tour... today is Sally's turn.

Happy Monday.. An Apple A Day Book Blog Tour

Monday, July 2, 2012

Yes, it is my turn....

An Apple A Day book is centered around a day in the life of a quilter/sewist. There are 9 projects to take you from morning to evening. Centered around sewing and family life.

The Box on the cover is designed by our fearless leader Amanda Herring of The Quilted Fish she,of course, also designed the fabulous fabric that we used for the projects in the book. The book can be purchased on her website here
My project for the book is the "Pack and Press" bag. It is designed to carry your rotary cutting mat, cutting tools, and rulers to class or sew day. It has a fold out panel that you can iron on so you don't have to carry a big bulky ironing board with you. We affectionately call it the Pack and Play...

 This is the pocket inside

This is it with the ironing surface open.

To see a photo of what it looks like closed you can click over to the purchase page here

There are some brilliant projects in this book. I love Amanda's Sewing Box which you can see on the cover it has nesting boxes on the inside to hold your sewing bits.

The first project in the book is this Necklace by Jackie:

At Quilt Market all of the girls from the team that were able to come worked in the booth with shop owners making these necklaces. It was very industrious of them. I was not able to help because of all of my appointments with fabric manufacturers but I could tell everyone was having fun.
So... would you like to win a kit to make this necklace?

All you have to do is click over to Amanda's shop and tell me which project picture most intrigues you.

Don't forget I am giving away one of my copies of the book here.

Tomorrow head on over to Sally's for the next leg of the tour.

You can also click on the button on the right side of the blog to see the full tour list with links if you miss a day.

Have an Awesome Monday!
