I sewed....

Wednesday, March 30, 2011
Hi Everyone,

Up until yesterday it had been 3 weeks since I had sewn anything. I have been so busy getting the shop up and running that I haven't taken the time to touch the sewing machine.

My daughter came in and saw it laying on the table and said "Wow mom! That is so not you, but it is pretty." She is right it is not my usual style. I picked up a Pom Pom De Paris charm pack when I was at Inbetween Stitches with Brooke a few weeks ago. Something about the yellow and pink appealed to me. I had some pieces of Roueneries hanging around so I decided to mix them together and see what I got. Brooke asked what I was going to make with it and I told her maybe a coin quilt since I had never made one before. She looked at me like I was crazy (well, actually she laughed) It's true 16 yrs of quilting and nary a coin or nine patch. Hehe. The sashing is sewn on now and I will put the borders on tonight.

  1. Isn't that funny how the simplest and basic patterns just elude us? I have done a 9-patch many times, but never the disappearing 9 nor the disappearing 4 - Both done in one month and I clunk my head why I waited. Love your coin quilt sneak peek.

  2. Very pretty. I love the fabrics. It makes me think about my trip to Paris almost exactly 1 year ago. I arrived with two friends on Easter morning.

Alas I love your newest project too! I am jealous - too many other things going on to play with that fabric just yet.
Enjoy! It was such a fun day - great fabric to remember it by.

  8. I haven't made a coin quilt, either. Sometimes those really simple patterns are the hardest for me. I love this fabric, though. I've seen it all over blogland this morning! Weird!
