I look to Patrick Lose for most of my inspiration as he is fresh and fun!
ReplyDeleteI like to look at Kaffe's books for his use of colors to change an ordinary quilt into something great. (The Ladies Stitching Club fabrics sure are pretty!)
ReplyDeleteI look mainly to bloggers! Lynne at lilysquilts and Faith at freshlemonsquilts for a start!
ReplyDeleteI look back to my greatgran and great aunties - they were the 'trend' setters of their time and their work is still vibrant today.
ReplyDeleteI get sucked into blog world for inspiration. Moda Bake Shop and Cluck Cluck Sew get me in quite a bit of trouble! In a good way of course!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge reader of blogs, but it's hard to have my own creative voice when I'm always reading about the amazing work of other people! But who cares when you can be influenced by the likes of I'm a Ginger Monkey, Badskirt Amy, and Stitched in Color!
ReplyDeleteI look to bloggers for my inspiration. A few of my current favorites are: Blue Elephant Stitches, Stitched in Color and Ellison Lane Quilts. There are many, many more amazing quilt bloggers out there coming up with beautiful and fresh designs.
ReplyDeleteI read blogs for ideas and inspiration. There are so many out there that it is hard to pick just one. I like The Noble Wife, Moose on the Porch Quilts and Happy Quilting to name a few but there are many more.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I have to say I don't follow too many of the big names, I love seeing what regular ladies are up to - not that the big names aren't regular ladies too, I just find I identify more with the average blogger out there. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI get inspiration from everywhere! My current inspirations that I'm doodling came from the county fair that was last week :)
ReplyDeleteprajaline(at)gmail(dot)com
bloggers and pinterest. i love all the ideas around the net
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by a long list of bloggers but also by the authors of some of my many quilting books. I have some older books by Margaret Miller and her quilts are pretty amazing. They were probably ahead of their time when the books came out.
ReplyDeleteI find my best inspiration in the blogs that I visit. I may love the pattern of the quilt, but hate their fabric choices, or the opposite may be true. I really don't tend to follow many big name quilters, or their books.
ReplyDeletei look to blogs and quilt books: denyse schmidt, stitched in color, cluck cluck sew, how about orange, in color order...
ReplyDeleteI'm with so many others who say they're inspired by bloggers. The internet is such a great resource!
ReplyDeleteI get a lot of my inspiration from bloggers, but I like magazines and books as well. I'm sad that Chickopee isn't in today...I had my credit card ready to go!
ReplyDeleteOne of the first blogs that got me thinking about quilting was Red Pepper Quilts- her use of color and pattern really inspire me. Thanks for the giveaway. Sorry your two lines didn't arrive when they were supposed to. I understand your frustration.
ReplyDeleteLove blogs for inspiration! Maureen Cracknell handmade, Happy Quilting and Simplify to name a few! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI look to the blogs for inspiration for quilting. I also look at the magazines on the store shelves. I don't have a particular person, because that is too limiting.
ReplyDeleteI love to look at bloggers ideas, books and other mediums to get inspiration from. Thanks for the chance to win some lovely fabric!
ReplyDeleteso many of the British quilters, Lynne of Lily's Quilts, Katy of I'm a Ginger Monkey, Susan of Canadian Abroad. Then there are the paper piecers...too many to name. Oh, and Ayumi. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteHELLO! I LIKE TO SEE WHAT BOBBIE+CAMILLE/SIMPLIFY ARE DOING AND I GET A LOT OF INSPIRATION FROM QUILT MAGAZINES.THANKS FOR SHARING!
ReplyDeletemsstitcher1948@yahoo.com
I think Elizabeth Hartman is so inspiring. I've learned so much from her first book and from her blog!
ReplyDeleteI love most things from Tula Pink and Elizabeth Hartman. They are my biggest sources of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI read lots of blogs, but lately I'm on a Kaffe Fassett kick and am inspired by his amazing colors.
ReplyDeletemy inspiration usually comes from the person i am making the quilt for. kinda like matching their personality with the perfect quilt.
ReplyDeleteooo that's not funny for your order...
ReplyDeletethe first quilting inspiration was my grand mother, she made quilt for her grands child, each one and after that for the first baby of her grand child... but me i got 3 for my triplets! well she is my inspiration . thank,s for the giveaway Julie, nice week end to you
For inspiration when quilting....that's a tough one. I would say magazines, blogs, facebook all of which I enjoy...But when looking at the stacks of quilts I've actually created, my inspiration comes from antique quilts collected and those passed down through our family.
ReplyDeletesowingstitches [at] yahoo [dot] com
Gorgeous fabrics. I read alot of quilting blogs & get my inspiration from them - including Red Pepper Quilts, Bonnie Hunter's blog, Leah Day's blog, Victoria Wolfe's blogs, etc. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry your order didn't come in today Julie (hugs)! My sewing idols would have to be Julie Herman from Jaybird Quilts and Rachel Griffith from P.S. I Quilt! I just love the modern projects these ladies create! Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway and sharing the link for the free pattern!
ReplyDeleteI look for boldness and color. But I really do like all designes so far.
ReplyDeleteLove those pink fabrics and thanks for sharing that pattern. so neat!
ReplyDeleteI get my inspiration from all the blogs I read and from my applique bee. Every time I hang out with my bee I want to come home and sew.
There isn't any one person who is trend setting in pattern for me. I have to see the pattern, and the shapes and colors have to catch my eye. Usually it is the simple shapes for me that catch my eye. It cannot be too crazy and jumping all over the place. It has to have a good flow. Some days I am into bright and bold colors, and then the fall comes around, and I am into the warm cozy colors. Strange how the seasons can effect your choices completely.
ReplyDeleteMy long time favorite pattern designer is Sherri K Falls. I love her BOM patterns.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thisandthatpatterns.com/patterns_blockofthemonth.php
For fun it's pattern from The Quilt Company.
http://www.quiltcompany.com/ or Bunny Hill
This year I discovered April Mae Designs Hello Sun BOM....too cute.
http://aprilmaedesigns.com/hellosun/
You can tell I just like to play. This is just a few.
I am just starting to quilt so I am looking everywhere and anywhere for inspiration...magazines, blogs, pinterest.... so many ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love to look at different blogs, pinterest and magazines. I'm a visual person so it really helps me to get ideas of color combinations to use, often colors I would have never put together but love when I see them. Also my LQS, I have four in my area that I frequent and each is different and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win a gorgeous fabric bundle. All the pretty fabrics make me smile. Hope you have a great weekend!
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
Lynne at Lily's Quilts is always immensely inspiring...as is Alison at Little Island Quilting, Leanne at She Can Quilt, Sarah at Narcoleptic in a Cupboard...I could go on but I might miss out someone so let's just say all my Brit Blogger friends (and quite a few non-Brit ones!) ;o)
ReplyDeleteHope Chicopee and Field Study arrive soon x
Right this minute, I am reading and re-reading Jacquie Gehring and Katie Pedersen's book, learning from them and being inspired by their choices.
ReplyDeleteI have been inspired by Pinterest, blogs, and some fantastic books I have been able to get lately. Love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteI get inspired by bloggers and Pinterest has become a great source. Thanks for the chance!!
ReplyDeleteRight now Pinterest has my interest...that's where I'm getting most of my inspiration! That fabric is beautiful, btw! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI get inspiration from lots of places. Lately, Linda Lum Debono is one person whose design sense I like very much.
ReplyDeleteI have to say there is no single place of inspiration, but a collective force from the whole sewing blog community out there. If we'd had this technology when I was a young mother, I would have been doing this 30 years ago! The time I've wasted! Better late than never. I just thank heavens for all the wonderful people out there sharing all their knowledge and ideas and creativity. S'wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely look most at blogs. I love Thimble Blossoms patterns and a lot of what I see on Sew, Mama, Sew! christina112358 at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI have a pin board for quilts and blocks that inspire me. I dont usually copy patterns but create my own inspired aby a shape or color or fabric or style.
ReplyDeleteOh my heck!! I look everywhere! Magazines, blogs, quilt shops, quilting shows, the internet, friends, my Mother-in-Law (also my friend) and, the list goes on!!
ReplyDeleteI love everything that Rita at Red Pepper Quilts does. Although I haven't actually done anything that I can say was inspired by her, I'd love to try. I follow many quilting blogs so get a lot of inspiration here and there, in addition to things I find on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteI 've only been quilting for a year and half so I get inspiration from a variety of talented bloggers; the tutorials from Missouri Star Quilt, quilt magazines and books.
ReplyDeleteI look at blogs mostly. My favorites are OhFransson and Red Pepper Quilts
ReplyDeleteI get inspiration from many places but my favorites is blogs ,magazines and books.
ReplyDeleteI read blogs. My favorites are Sotak Handmade, cluck cluck sew, and crazy mom quilts.
ReplyDeleteI check about 40 blogs every day, so I get a lot inspiration from those. I have to say my favorite right now is Elizabeth Hartman. I just love the chic look of her quilts and how they're good for a new quilter.
ReplyDeleteLoving that pink! I get my inspiration from bloggers. I like Stitched in Color, In Color Order, Quilt Home, Ellison Quilts, Art Gallery to name a few. I've enjoyed reading the comments and finding some new names to check out!
ReplyDeleteThere is just SO MUCH inspiration out there, I often think it is overwhelming. I am absolutely in love with the paper piecers that are out there (Ayumi, Charise, Kerry to name a few) but also anything that Amy of Nanacompany makes.
ReplyDeleteLately it's been Tula Pink and pinterest!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very beautiful quilt! I get inspiration from just looking at blogs and all the wonderful things people are making. I don't often make quilts from a pattern, just do my own thing. I make interesting quilts, but they maybe don't appeal to everyone's taste.
ReplyDeleteI look at blogs to see quilting projects underway, magazines, and books like Kaffe Fassett and others. It's the color that usually attracts me to a fabric or quilt and inspires me to make a quilt.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that fabric is missing - I know just how miserable that would make me! I'm inspired by Jeni Baker and Rita at Red Pepper Quilts - love their use of colour.
ReplyDeletei love kay mackenzie's applique books and lizzy b cre8ive patterns, and all the creative bloggers who show off their work and share their tutes. thanx for the opporunity to win some 'ladies stitching club'! my new fav!
ReplyDeleteFat Quarterly Shape Workshop
ReplyDeletefor Quilters has me hooked-
great directions! And all
the bloggers-thanks for
inspiration, keep on
keeping on!
I read blogs for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your shipment. That happened to me once and the post office had erroneously sent it to customs. I look to many bloggers, like stiched in color, in color order, lily's quilts, Lori holt, and pinterest :)
ReplyDeleteI look to bloggers too... Maureen Cracknell Handmade & jaybird quilts are two of my favs!
ReplyDeleteI love all the bloggers. It's always fun to see what they're creating. My favorite is Maureen Cracknell Handmade. She uses such fresh and fun fabrics and she's so talented. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteSo many sources of inspiration!! I love the sewing and quilting blogs. Maureen Cracknell Handmade is one of my favorites. I also love Craftsy (online) and Quilter's Newsletter magazine.
ReplyDeleteI'm always being inspired by Red Pepper Quilts! Thanks (EMAIL: marshudson at comcast dot net)
ReplyDeleteFor inspiration in quilting and in life, I look to Amy of "amy's Passions" http://skattebo-skattebo.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteShe is a teacher, a mom, a farmer/gardener and preserver of homegrown goods, and she cranks out FABULOUS quilts like crazy. She donates quilts, gives them as gifts, encourages her daughter's to join in her art form...she is amazing!
My inspiration comes from blogland! I purchased my first sewing machine two years ago and thanks to bloggers that share so much, I keep sewing and learning:) I truly appreciate bloggers and all they offer to blogland!
ReplyDeleteI get most of my inspiration from blogs - my tastes are sort of eccentric so its not often I see a large scale project that I really love, so I scour tons of places. The first blogs that really drew me in earlier this year when I started getting interested though, were stitched in color & in color order, they are prolific sewers so there's always lots of inspiration there.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of different bloggers that inspire me. Maureen crack ell comes to mind though.
ReplyDeleteI think I would say the Bloggers Quilt Festival was a huge inspiration as there were 650+ quilts shown to click on and look at. I have alist of things I want to try and make or buy a pattern for!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Julie Herman and Amy Butler - great designers!
ReplyDeleteThat Teacakes bundle is to die for!!
ReplyDeleteI look to blogs for my inspiration...no one person really. Just all the wonderful quilters and quilt shops out there that are always posting their current projects and new bundles of fabrics like you just did today!!! It's so very inspiring.
Wow- specifics?? I follow about 50-75 blogs and those bloggers are who inspire me. Some of them are the names we know, Elizabeth Hartman, Red Pepper Quilts and some are just really creative people sharing their quilts.
ReplyDeleteI like seeing what bloggers are doing as wells looking in quilting magazines. I hope your fabrics come in soon.
ReplyDeleteI like bloggers works the mlost, and I take some inspiration on Fave Quilts, I am in love with several projects! =)
ReplyDeletethank you so much for this new giveaway....
Maureen Cracknell, Elizabeth Hartman, and many other modern bloggers!
ReplyDeletePoo on UPS today :( I know how it is when you are expecting something and it doesnt' show up!
ReplyDeleteI spend time on Flickr and the blogs. I like Cluck Cluck Sew, Camille (Simplify), Blue Elephant Stitches and Sherri at A Quilting Life.
My inspiration comes mostly fro my little girl- whenever we are at friends house and she is excited of somethig she saw or that she sees something she likes at window shop- I decide to make a version of it especially for her (with her loveble colors and texture...)
ReplyDeleteI love reading blogs and doing so I get inspired. Mosly i take my own turn in folowing patterns
ReplyDeleteI love quilt shows! I get so much inspiration from the work of others!
ReplyDeleteI get most of my inspiration from the fabrics themselves, and from nature. Some of my favorite projects have come from a sketch that I've done, something that I've seen while I was out walking around and just had to jot down.
ReplyDeleteI do love to read blogs and see what others are doing, that is also very inspiring!
Thank you for the chance to win some Tea Cakes, and I hope your fabric shows up quickly. :)
I usually look at the fabrics and then start creating the mandala that has elements of the very precise shapes and colors. Then I combine both - the sketch and the fabrics and make them become friends...
ReplyDeleteI look to bloggers for pattern design and colour choices. I look to you for great fabric. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI usually first look at the fabric, then start making the mandala sketch that usually consists of the very precise elements. And then I make the sketch and the mandala become friends...
ReplyDeleteLove my blogger buddies! And they're teaching me to peruse the shops (like the Ikea catalog I just received) for ideas. I also love vintage quilts so sometimes I browse Etsy for ideas...
ReplyDeleteLove reading what the Bloggers are doing! And have to say...seein & touchin fabric ALWAYS gets the creative juices in gear!lol Magazines & books help too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for chance to win Beautiful Tea Cakes! :)
I love to see Angela Walters' quilting feats - amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love to read many different bloggers and I get my inspiration from ALL of them! :)
ReplyDeleteI look at some blogs and books, but I really get inspired by the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteugh! Boo for stuck UPS!!!
ReplyDeleteI look to flickr first... and blogs, and I find a lot of inspiration in various design elements! I've been trying to create my own patterns, and architectural tiles have been fun! :)
I love using patterns by Cluck Cluck Sew. And did I mention that I am a pinkaholic?? Wow you almost put me on overload :-) Great fabric!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired a lot by Lynette Anderson and Aneela Hoey. I love the color palette Lynette uses in her fabrics and designs. Aneela Hoey's fabrics are so colorful and I love how she uses them in her quilts.
ReplyDeleteI really love Maureen Cracknell but to be honest I get most of my inspiration from my kids!
ReplyDeletei look to shop owners, magazines and blogs for my inspiration. there is lots out there.
ReplyDeleteI surf lots of blogs and get ideas, but I trust Melissa at Happy Quilting. If she says I can do it, I know I can. I look to Leah Day, Green Fairy and Cindy Needham for quilting ideas, designs, help. And anything Madame Samm has a hand in, I always get ideas from her. Color combos and fabric choices, I check out your blog and Jolly Jabber and then others. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBlogs are my inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I've been getting a lot of inspiration from Pinterest. And of course from my quilt guild.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think you're going to think I am being a kiss up or cheesy, but Julie I get a lot of inspiration o your blog and in your store. You put fabrics together in a way that I can see the quilt I want to make with it. And of course there are others that do that same thing for me. But whose blog is the first one I look at every morning? Yours of course and then "well my other favorite" :)
ReplyDeleteI get most of my inspiration from the quilting blogs I read. Too many to list, but here are a few: Maureen Cracknell, Diary of a Quilter, In color order, Elison Lane. I'm a quilting blog addict.
ReplyDeleteI look to the blogs that I frequent! My favorite quilters are always providing inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI also look to bloggers for inspiration. I love Pleasant Home, Diary of a Quilter, and PS I Quilt. I also love most of Moda's fabric lines and those offer a lot of inspiration to me as well. And, don't even get me started on Pinterest. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I follow are my inspiration. But usually I look at my stash and then when I see something on a blog that resembles some of the colors that's what I put together. I'm not the best at putting colors together. Thanks for the chance to win the bundle. That one would be so simple to put together because the fabrics already match.
ReplyDeleteI love looking to quilting blogs for inspiration. Everyone's beautiful projects make me want to sew all the time!
ReplyDeleteMost of my inspiration these days comes from blogs and quilting magazines. There just isn't enough time in my day to do all I want.
ReplyDeleteI love to search Moda's website, and looking at my grandmother's quilts for inspiration. I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to quilt-making. liz.taylor24@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI find my inspiration from people like you and the blog world out there. There is so much talent that it is humbling to consider myself part of this group. Thanks for all you do and keep your chin up off the floor - so you don't trip on it. Stuff happens.
ReplyDeleteBoo for delayed fabric!! Pinterest and the world around me inspire my patterns - interesting geometric designs in shopping center tiled floors, or the look of bubbles clustered together, paint chips, etc!
ReplyDeleteI get inspired from many places. and just playing in eq and fun color combinations..... I'd love a cue pink bundle for my 3 day old daughter!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm more backwards in my inspiration than most. I like to pick my inspiration from the fabric itself and work from there. I have a problem with some of the bigger prints because I just cant wrap my head around how to make them work with my projects (then again, I make soft toys instead of quilts, so I'm backwards to begin with!). But if I'm stuck - perusing embroidery designs usually dusts off the ol' inspiration ticker, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI read lots of different blogs and spend time on pinterest
ReplyDeleteIhave just gotten interested in paperpiecing and Judy Niemeyer's patterns
ReplyDeleteThat is a tough question to answer. I have to go with blogs and magazines in general. I follow so many wonderful and inspiring quilter's.
ReplyDeleteI follow and love lots of blogs. Rita at Red Pepper Quilts is one that is always so inspiring! I wish I could whip them out fast like she does!
ReplyDeleteI go to people blogs for inspiration. So many delightful things are made by people
ReplyDeleteI am still a beginning quilter so I look to blogs for tutorials and inspiration. My favorite blog is In Color Order. I also learned I can find a lot of help and inspiration on YouTube!
ReplyDeleteI look to mainly bloggers, especially Jeni from In Color Order, Kati from From the Blue Chair, and Rita from Red Pepper Quilts!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE sarah jane's fabric and blog projects - her fabric inspires me to want to sew. for quilting I like maureen mccracknell (I know I butchered the spellign on that - sorry!)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what all the ladies at guild are making and what fabrics they are using. We have a wide variety of ages and skill levels, so show-n-tell is ALWAYS inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win. Hope they find your package quickly!
Sandy A
I would say my inspiration comes from the great blogs that I read. Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteOh no on the lost shipment. Is the last place it was seen possibly Hodgkins, IL?? (yes, I have a story about the UPS hub there and a lost shipment my husband had. They kept sending it in circles and each night for days it always seemed to land back in Hodgkins. LOL) Good luck.
ReplyDeleteMy inspiration comes from the blogs but I am starting to see more and more things offline that give me ideas. I guess that means my 'eye' is changing a bit.
Decades ago I was inspired by people like Jinny Beyer and Barbara Brackman. Current inspiration comes more from the fabric I choose and from linky parties taking me to various blogs. I have to admit that there is just no one person who supplies most of my inspiration. That's kind of a surprise; I didn't realize that it's the whole bloggy world that's providing the inspiration these days.
ReplyDeletePatricia Bravo gets my vote!
ReplyDeleteI get most of my inspiration from reading blogs, at the moment I'm probably paying most attention to Bonnie Hunter.
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired by the many talented quilters online. I like Jaybird Quilts, Cluck Cluck Sew, Quilting by the River, Sew Sweetness, Sew Bittersweet Designs, and Fat Quarterly's new Quilting shapes book. Thanks for a chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one if you're asking me about designers. Usually I see a quilt either in person or on the net and that's what inspires me. After that, I start looking at/thinkingof fabrics.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of my inspiration comes from the quilting blogs I read. There are too many to list here, but a few of my favorites are Red Pepper Quilts, Oh Fransson, Maureen Cracknell Homemade, and Pink Penguin.
ReplyDeleteLike many of your readers, I am inspired daily by many of the blogs I am subscribed to. I also think about my mom who passed away April. She loved sewing & it brings me close to her
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a lot of quilting blogs that give me daily inspiration (many of which are friends too). I also find everything that Anna Maria Horner does to be pretty exciting, especially the way she writes about her process on her blog. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI read many blogs and get my inspirations from different people. Some are designers, some are just regular folks like me.
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired alot by blogs (of regular poeple) and by the blogs of fabric designers. I follow Cosmo Cricket, Sweetwater, Amanda Murphy, Leanne of Leanne's House. I guess I'm all over the place, but I don't go for the browned and muted colors and the primitive look very much!!
ReplyDeleteSince I seem to be following most quilt blogs, I do get alot of different inspiration from all of them-sometimes it is just a mention of something in the blog that I will pursue. And then another, new dimension is added to the realm of inspirations. Also, Moda & certain designers just 'have my number'& I fall in love with the designs they come up with.
ReplyDeleteI like all the ones mentioned so far but Quilt Inspiration is a great Blog for me. Plus the Australians do fabulous stuff wish I could go to one of those shows.
ReplyDeleteCindy W, Aus
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your fabric going walk-about.

ReplyDeleteJackie gehring and Denyse Schmidt are huge inspirations to me - I love improv quilts. But I get inspiration from all the smaller blogs I follow too :o)
ReplyDeletePinterest is my go-to place for inspiration (pinspiration). Besides browsing crafty/quilting/sewing pins, I look at home decor to see what is trending and fashion.
ReplyDeleteDeborah
homemakerhoney @gmail .com
Jewel - it is quilters like YOU that inspire me. I'm not at all creative so I need to borrow ideas from all the generous & creative quilters on the internet - mostly from blogs like yours. Great giveaway - the fabric is awesome. Thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteI look to Riley Blake for bright, happy deisgns and Pat Sloan for a combination of new ideas and back to basics project ideas. Thank you for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteI read lots of blogs and a rare few magazines, but usually I look to myself for inspiration. I like to play "what if..."
ReplyDeleteMost of my inspiration comes from the blogs that I read. I don't know that I have any one that is more inspiring than another.
ReplyDeleteMost of my inspirations come from japanese sewing books. I particularly love embroideries by Hiroko Ishii:)

ReplyDeleteI love to look at Moda Bake shop among others, but the Bake shop is my favorite. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteSew Mama Sew is a great resource for inspiration for me in my sewing adventures. Wait! My kids inspire my sewing more than anyone.
ReplyDeleteMy inspirations are everywhere! I do read blogs, and get ideas from seeing what others are doing. Often I get color schemes from looking at a favorite fabric and adding in others that play happily. I also email another quilter regularly and we push each other to try new things. (I hope your fabric arrives on Monday -- that is maddening!)
ReplyDeleteBlogs and pinterest, definitely, but I also get a lot of sewing inspiration from books, especially old pattern and cross stitch books.
ReplyDeleteI follow Bonnie Hunter on Quiltville for quilting inspiration! awolk at rogers dot com
ReplyDeleteI do a lot of surfing on the web and when I find a nice tutorial or idea, I'll use that. I don't have any specific person that I look to for inspiration for sewing...
ReplyDeleteI spend a lot of time(that I should use for quilting)reading blogs and quilting magazines. I always find new things I want to try. Now if I could only be as productive as easily as I get the ideas I would be one extremely happy quilter!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my honest favorites is Rita at Red Pepper Quilts
ReplyDeleteI look to bloggers, too! Some of my favorites are Beth at Love Laugh Quilt, Lisa at Shiner's View, Rachel at Stitched in Color, and Amanda Jean at Crazy Mom Quilts. I could go on and on, because there's so much inspiration out there....
ReplyDeleteI got a lot of inspiration from my Aunt Caroline. She was a very prolific quilter. Now that she is no longer able to quilt, I find many wonderful things on blogs.
ReplyDeleteI love going to all the blogs. I get lots of ideas from all of them. Hard to say just one.
ReplyDeleteI follow A LOT of bloggers. I'm a big fan of Fat Quarterly, and I've had a blast lately with patterns by Katy of I'm a Ginger Monkey.
ReplyDeleteI just love to see what Rita at Red Pepper Quilts comes up with, and I agree with Ella who likes Katy of I'm a Ginger Monkey.
ReplyDeleteMostly bloggers, like The Silly BooDilly, Oh, Fransson!, Ellison Lane Quilts, and Film in the Fridge. Lots to see out here :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Patrick
Everyone who mentioned bloggers, and Pinterest, and modern textile designers are right on ... I love those sources, too. But I mostly love my dear Sweet Auntie who inspires me to do my best when it comes to sewing. I wish I had her color sense! Thanks for the give away!
ReplyDeleteAnything cute. I may say Etsy.
ReplyDeleteI tend to look at BadSkirt Amy, but I love Maureen Cracknell's free spirited creativity.
ReplyDeleteOf all my friends I am the only one who makes quilts. Now that I am blogging I have started hanging out with an old friend that does a beautiful job, Marjorie's Busy Corner. My mother in law taught me to quilt and she has made many beautiful quilts over the years. She sews everything by hand and quilts all her own.
ReplyDeleteI look to bloggers, mostly, Faith from FreshLemonQuilts, Bonnie Hunter, Elisabeth Hartman from OhFransson, just to name a few. I also look at books, I find those most inspiring which don't offer patterns but present different blocks like Jinny Beyer's Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns. There's also a lot of inspiration in my surroundings.
ReplyDeleteSince I am fairly new to the world of sewing I look around a lot for inspiration, particularly at Pinterest and blogs. Some of my favourite blogs are I'm a Ginger Monkey, Flossie Teacakes, Nana Company, Flying Blind on a Rocket Cycle, VeryKerryBerry, and Very Berry Handmade. I also love the websites of designers Riley Blake, and the Janelle Wind Collection. Thank you for the very pretty giveaway.
ReplyDeleteks(dot)eyles(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk

ReplyDeleteThere are so many great sources for inspiration. I find a lot of inspiration via bloggers. One of my favorite quilt designers is Bonnie Hunter.
ReplyDeleteI dont want to sound patronizing but you are one of those that I get so much inspiration from. Thanks so much for that inspiration, I look forward to what you have to share daily.
ReplyDeleteI get pattern inspiration from reading blogs but occasionally I just put two and two together. I'm not very original though so blog reading is the best for me!
ReplyDeleteI look to Anne Sutton. I have made 3 of her quilts now and just love the piecing, applique and embroidery on these Bunny Hill designs.
ReplyDeleteWhile I love looking at what the big designers are doing, my biggest inspiration is other quilters!! Someone is always coming up with a great twist on an old classic or new technique that lets me try something I've been too afraid to or didn't have enough time to do before. Mostly these days I find the ideas on via Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteI follow lots of blogs that are full of inspiration: Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill, Elizabeth at Oh, Fransson!, Melissa at Happy Quilting, Victoria at BumbleBeans, Kaaren at The Painted Thread, and Sharon V at Vroomans Quilts, among lots of others. There are so many wonderful bloggers that you can see inspiration in a wide variety of styles.
ReplyDeleteI follow many blogs, but the ones who are the foremost for me are: Rachel @ Stitched in Color, Angela @ Cut to Pieces, Katy@ I'm a Ginger Monkey, and here. No, I'm not a kiss up! lol I truly do love coming here to see your beautiful photos of your fabric. It makes me want them all!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to go is Google. Just type in String Quilts, you'll be amazed!
ReplyDeleteAlso I pull out some of my books or magazines from the early 90's when I first started to quilt.
i check my blog listy for ideas (stitched in color, RPQ, Freshly Pieced, Fresh Lemons)
ReplyDeletealso, i get a lot of inspiration from wondering around the galleries at work - seeing as it is the National Quilt Museum!
Truth be told, I look to you for a lot of the trends, Julie! You keep me up on what the coolest fabric is! Love ya! Please pick me for this one. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI got from blogs and YouTube.
ReplyDeleteI am addicted to blogs. I get so many ideas from them.
ReplyDeleteBoy...books, blogs, quilt stores, and magazines!
ReplyDeletei remember Lynette Jensen from Thimbleberries was who i was first attracted to, and then did one her blocks of the month, that cost a small fortune, but it does look stunning EVEN tho one block was upside down even after beingprofessional quilted. but my husband said, on seeing the finished quilt, BUT that one is upside down.. i could have died. Any how, now i have moved on to brighter stuff (Touch of Color appeals.. done 2 quilts with hers) and still into Amy Butler. Many copy her, but hers just stand out still..
ReplyDeleteI love to see what all the current bloggers are doing like Jeni at In Color Order, Red Pepper Quilts, Auyumi, Art Gallery etc... but alas it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks so therefore I gain inspiration from all you gals but usually wind up quilting my grandmothers patterns .. using these new great modern fabrics ...hehe I think you are doing a great job with your new website so dont get discouraged :)
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I like to look at other bloggers. In the end I usually stick with a quick and easy pattern, but some day I'll make a cool quilt that I found online. :) Jane Brocket has a great quilt book (and knitting, and "domesticity") that I love to look at just for the photos.
