FWQAL and stuff....

Thursday, August 4, 2011
Hi Everyone,

I never got a chance to take a picture of my two latest FWQAL blocks. My son had taken over the office while he is here for a week or two before heading off to college.

FW block 13

FW block 14

I am sorry that have not been personally answering all of the giveaway comments. I took the day off on Tuesday (first time since I opened the shop) and went to hang out with a friend. By the time I got back I had over 200 emails... it was just too daunting. The shop seems to be a bit quiet today so I might get a chance to sew.... I pulled these from my stash for the event (it is an event when I get to sew now :) )

Aren't they pretty?

I think I am gonna rab up some of this and make a pressie for my MIL for her Birthday:

Her Living room is blue and yellow so maybe this can be a couch throw... I love these so much!

Be back tomorrow with Friday fun day.

Talk soon...

Happy Monday, More FWQAL, and Source For Inspiration

Monday, July 18, 2011
Hi Everyone,

I made 6 blocks over the weekend in an effort to catch up on the FWQAL:

Farmer's Wife Block #7

Farmer's Wife Block #8

Farmer's Wife Block #9

Farmer's Wife Block #10

Farmer's Wife Block #11

Farmer's Wife Block #12
Now I think I just have to do 4 this week to be caught up to the rest of the group... I am really enjoying making these especially with my new old machine :)

Since I showed you all this:

I have had a lot of requests for tutorials and the like. I would so love to do that, unfortunately I learned this in a class and the person I learned from only had one stipulation, that we not teach others. She said we can sell what we make with her techniques but not teach because that is what she does. I totally respect that. So if you want to take her class here is a link:  http://christytomlinson.typepad.com/christytomlinson/workshops.html

I also wanted to give you a free source of inspiration, I know sometimes it is hard to come up with a few extra dollars to do something that you might not even like once you start... I like to save my money for fabric too :) ... so please check out one of the most creative women I have ever seen.... (okay you scrapbookers already know her I am sure) Her name is Donna Downey and she is really amazing. High energy and so much fun to watch. On her blog (at the link) you will find a link on the left side to Inspiration Wednesdays, every Wednesday she does a video post with some piece of art she works on... it will give you so many ideas... once she did a whole week full and I watched everyday. I find inspiration for sewing everywhere and this is no exception. As with anything enter this world at your own risk... it is an expensive hobby :)

So why is it happy Monday?

Because I found out that Heirlooma nd Pernilla's Journey will be here on Friday... yay! So many pretty fabrics.
Have a great day!

Flora & Summerhouse please! As much as I love the Ruby line I don't think it works well with what you have already. LOVE the Robin egg blue in Summerhouse. YUMMY!

And number 45 is:

I didn't read every single comment, but since I don't have a quilting program, I had to click on the green scissors (instead of the blue ones). Anyway, I am swayed by my color preferences, so I will just state my opinion - Ruby for sure, and Summer House. I do not like Flora (I'm sure there are many who would, though). Hope these comments help you out, chickie. You're doing a great job at keeping us informed on whats out there!

Sorry to everyone that had to figure out it was the Green scissors not the blue ones (on my monitor they look almost the same) And as to the comments. I picked Flora (sorry Caren) I feel that you will have lots and lots of places to get Ruby though, so I am sure that you won't be deprived :) You both will be receiving a 5" double charm pack of Terrain. I will email you both in a moment. If you don't hear from me please email me.

Here are my latest two blocks for the FWQAL. I think I could have gotten more contrast on #5 but, oh well, I like it anyway...

Farmer's Wife Block #5

Farmer's Wife Block #6

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get some sewing done :)

Farmer's Wife... are you sick of my yet?

Thursday, July 14, 2011
Hi Everyone,

Okay I might be slightly obsessed with:

Farmer's Wife block #3

Farmer's Wife block #4
This quilt along... but really they are so cute and just 6 itty bitty inches...

Oops I forgot to mention.. go check out Marisa's Shop for the most adorable bunny pattern (it matches the style of Meet The Gang) I had to get it because dang it is cute... maybe I will whip one up this weekend :) It can be a little mascot around here when her fabric line shows up... eep I really can't wait for that.

I don't have a lot to say today ... tomorrow is Friday Fun Day so don't miss it. Farm Fresh is in the shop so that might give you a clue as to what is coming tomorrow.

The Farmer's Wife Quilt Along and "C" Blocks.

Wednesday, July 13, 2011
Hi Everyone,

Have you been bitten by the bug to join The Farmer's Wife Quilt Long?

Block 1

Block 2
I swore I wasn't going to do it (I need a long term project like a fresh hole in the head) but I jumped anyway. I am using a combo of Weekends by Erin McMorris, scraps, and Kona cotton. My first scraps are Midwest Modern of course :) I decided to add a bit of challenge, I am not going to use white in the blocks. For me that is a huge challenge because I love white. I am hoping that in the end I will be able to do the setting (lattice) with white. We shall see how that works out :)

I also finished up the "C" blocks for Alphabet Sampler Quilt Along my guild is doing.

The top two are "Colored Wheel" and the bottom two are "Cain and Abel" ... on to the D blocks :)

I hope you all had a chance to do some sewing lately... but I know how summer time is... so whatever you are doing I hope it makes you happy.

Quilt Alongs....

Thursday, July 7, 2011
HI Everyone,

I know you haven't heard much from me this week.
I started a quilt along with my Modern Quilt Guild I showed you a couple of the blocks on Saturday. Above are some of the fabrics cut out to make my next two blocks... the "B" blocks. Below are all four of the "A" blocks that I have made.
The top ones are "Alaska Homestead" the bottom ones are "Algonquin Charm". I have a special love for anything that is a variation of a Churn Dash or a Farmer's Daughter block... these both fit the bill.

I so want to start the Farmer's Wife Quilt Along but I am just too afraid that I am so far behind. Maybe I will do it anyway.

Have you started any new quilt alongs lately?

Come back tomorrow for Friday Fun Day and the newest Giveaway (I promise you don't want to miss this one.)
