Friday Fun Day and the Giveaway

Friday, February 17, 2012
Hi Everyone,

I just put the shop in Vacation mode but I am not taking a vacation :) I am working on the new website and getting some much needed organization done. So those are my plans for the weekend.... what about you? Do you have anything fun going on for the Holiday weekend?

I am giving away two charm packs of A Walk In The Woods this week. I always feel like you need at least two to make anything...

Aren't they cute? So here is how you enter... Leave me a comment telling me what fabric collection you would bring back if you could. You may not say Neptune (because don't we all?) or Flea Market Fancy (it has been done :) ) so anything but those two... The giveaway runs until midnight 2/24/12.

Go forth and have a lovely weekend... you will see me back here tomorrow with the winner of last week's giveaway.

  41. I wish I knew the names of fabric lines. I just haven't been in the fabric collecting mode long. And they don't seem to keep the lines available long do they? Scrapbook paper is out for a while but I've noticed fabric is not. I still have a lot of learning too do.

This weekend...we are celebrating my granddaughters first birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hey that's not fair. I'm not ang big follower of fabric lines. I don't know what I'd bring back because I don't know collections! Tempting to just copy what someone else said but that would be cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I just started collecting fabric about a year ago so I know I missed a lot. One in particular I don't know the name of buut it is like a paint by number with deer and woods. I saw it on a couple different blogs with projects. I would love to get my hands on it to make my husband a iPad pouch. Hope you have a super productive weekend. Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm pretty new to quilting, too, and don't know. But I do know that I'm in love with my "new to me" Singer 401 sewing machine - made in 1960 or something. All metal construction and sews like a dream. They should bring those back!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anything retired by Tula Pink would get my vote. Wish I'd started buying sooner. =(

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  79. Well, since I just started sewing a few months ago, I haven't got a clue. In fact, I don't want to know because then I'd be sad.

Thanks for a really great giveaway Julie! :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. It's really hard to keep up with all the different fabric lines because there are just so many. I have a couple pieces from Kate Spain's Central Park and would like more, but I seldom see it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Pure by Sweetwater for Moda. Love that line!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I really don't know what fabric lines aren't available anymore. I guess I don't keep up with it enough. I know I was looking for some Fandango yardage and couldn't find what i was looking for.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I am new to quilting just over a month so have not missed much yet. But have missed missing stuff. I love all of the wonderful things that I have seen and would hate for any of them to go away.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I loved the Meadowsweet fabrics. I find some now and then in a clearance bin but it always is one that I have, never one that I need!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I don't know the name of the fabric, but my daughter wanted an owl quilt for her daughter and I just could not find this adorable owl fabric. I saw little bits and pieces, but not enough to work with. I ended up with It's a Hoot, which is pretty but not exactly the look we were going for.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'm not very good at identifying or remembering fabric lines but I do wish they would reprint Heather Ross' goldfish in a bag fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I don't know about a collection, but I always have a hard time finding Alexander Henry's Contigo print.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I dont follow designer fabric that closely- so I dont know what was out there- let alone what I want returned.

but i did get some sherbet pips and would love some more of that. or her other lines. Which is why im entering here!

Walk in the woods is very sweet

    ReplyDelete
  91. I feel like a moron, but I don't know Neptune. Maybe it is better that I don't b/c then I would just pine for it. Right? That's what we'll go with.
If I could bring back a line, it would be Dewberry's first Aviary. I used a lot of those prints in my daughter's room, but now they are all gone. I absolutely fell in love with his orange damask from that line!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I would have to say Fandango for one, because I missed out on it altogether! The other one...any older 3 Sisters line, because I missed out on most of those!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Can't think of their names but there are a couple lines from Sandy Gervais that I'd like to get my hands on. Thanks for this, Julie.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Would love to have some more Sunkissed by Sweetwater. One of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm up for Sunkissed for Sweetwater - I've been hunting it down one piece at a time for a BOM I'm doing.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Do I have to pick just one?? 'Cause I can't decide between 1974 by Urban Chiks or Good Folks.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I would LOVE to see Good Folks back, I've gotten a FQ here or there but that's about it - I am so in love with the blues in that collections!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Just ONE??? Can't do it - so in no particular order;

    Urban Indigo

    Moda-Urban Chiks
    Sweet
    Swell
    1974
    Summer in the City

    Moda Erin Michaels
    LUSH
another line I think by her with paint by number birds.

I am so happy they brought back Freshcut (although my favorite print is not back). I'm trying to decide what to use it for though.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Any of Kate Spain's previous collections...any. I love them all!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. As my use of designer quilting fabrics is relatively new, it is hard to pick an old one. From photos I've seen, Katie Jump Rope is a collection that I like. So, would pick it to bring back. If Bliss is out of print, then it is a choice too.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Pretty much anything by Kate Spain although with all the beautifulness that is coming and knowing if there is something I want it'll probably show up next year and I can't use all the great fabric I have now, I'll just say that I'm pretty impressed with what's out there now, and pretty satisfied. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Although you can still find Dogwood Trails in a few places, I don't thik it's being printed anymore. Would love to see the whole line come back - the soft colors were so dreamy.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I would like to have some more All Star from Riley Blake. Fun question.

    ReplyDelete

My weekend is going to be spent in the yard getting ready for my garden. Have a great weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Prep school or Mendocino. I would totally make a picnic blanket from prep school (plus my scottish background means that I am drawn to plaids) but Mendocino was soooooo pretty. :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. What a nice giveaway! Thanks, Julie! Well, I think maybe the one I was admiring from Brooke lately. The name escapes me. It's one word...it's red and turquoise...it was last year's fabric. Dang, I can't remember the name. It will come to me. Of course, I still am in love with Sugar and Spice, too!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'd also choose some Heather Ross - I didn't sew when her earlier stuff came out and now I know I totally missed out! Thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Heather Ross lightning bugs, rabbits and race cars or macaroni love story.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I just started sewing recently. I still dont know the fabric lines very well. But a walk in the park is one of my favorite ones that i've seen

    ReplyDelete
  113. Ii think I need a rest. I have to admit feeling VERY stupid right now. I'm reading that you put the shop on vacation but you aren't going anywhere. Then you mention the giveaway and what you would bring back. I keep reading and re-reading trying to see if I missed something about you going somewhere and keep thinking you're asking if we went too what would we bring back on the shopping trip. HA BOY do I feel dumb. It finally hit me that you are saying 'bring back' as in no longer available/sold out/can't get it without paying big bucks for someone who stashed some away and you want to buy it as it's the last yard on Earth type of 'bring back'. HAHA

And then I keep trying to figure out WHAT holiday weekend? Do I need to just run away from embarrassment or what? I realize Monday is President's Day but that's not a holiday around here unless you are a goverment worker.

Ok then. I'll just shut up now and give in......maybe just go back to bed even. I have only been buying designer fabric for a short time so I honestly can't say what I would 'bring back'. But hey, at least you get to laugh at me, the idiot behind the keyboard. :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'd bring back West Hill or Mendocino by Heather Ross! Thanks for the chance to win THIS lovely collection, too.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  122. I would bring back Tranquility by Sandy Gervais for Moda.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I just started sewing again last summer so I'm not really sure what isn't available. And when I sewed before (15 years ago) I sewed costumes for recreation of the middle ages! Thanks for the giveaway and good luck with all your work this weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Oh my - I can't remember the name of the fabric line at all (I wasn't aware of "cool lines" back then), but this was a fabric that was really whimsical and it had little tiny fairies on it, with whimsical flowers & stuff... It was in lighter colors - yellows, purples, pinks... I'm not normally into pastels at all, but this was gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Amy Butler's Belle.

    Also, Metro Cafe and Sanctuary.
(I have eclectic tastes in fabric.)

I'd love to win these, I used to not look at fabric "collections" so old ones, I have no clue about the names, I do however shop often at Connecting threads, and there's several old sets I'd like to bring back, like the nightime one, it's black and white and red, now I can't remember hte exact name

    ReplyDelete
  129. Of course, Heather Ross Lightning Bugs Collection, or more recently, Sweet Broderie by Rosalie Quinlin for Lecien. I wonder if I spelled all that right. Anyway, Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  130. I have no idea what names were out there, but i get a lot of left overs from a friend and I wish I could get more of the ones she sent, I think they are from the older lines of patek and brannock.

  132. bohemian by Anna Maria - Horner i love that collection. And of course it was out of print by the time i started quilting.....

    ReplyDelete
  133. I love fabric, but I don't really know what is no longer available. I tend to buy online and if it isn't available, it isn't in the shops, so I don't even know what I'm missing!

I have recently discovered Schnibbles patterns, and 2 charm packs are perfect for making those. Thank you for the chance to win these charms!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Good Folks by AMH and/or Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I recently saw a quilt with Heather Ross Mermaids and would love to have some of them! Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I wish there would be a true reprint of a line of Laurel Burch's cats. I was late in the game in getting some of the fabric and couldn't find more. I was sooo excited when I saw online that more had been made but was super disappointed when I received my order. It was a cheaper reprint and the colors weren't quite the same as the original.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I'd bring back Heirloom by Joel Dewberry. I started a quilt along this year and when I went looking for this collection, I could not find it anywhere!

    ReplyDelete
