Happy Monday!

Monday, January 5, 2015
Hi Everyone,

I think I need a holiday from the Holidays. It is funny that just when everyone is relaxing with friends and family we are in our crazy busy season. Gearing up for the New Year of festivities in the shop and having crazy stupid sales :)

So my tradition on the blog has been to pick a Word of the Year at New Year. The word of the year is Healthy.

I have been feeling terrible. When I started the shop I was exercising an hour a day and losing weight and feeling really wonderful but the stress and long hours have really taken a toll on me. So this year I am working on getting that back.

And this (above picture) also shows my second goal of the year... I want to learn to draw. I may never be a great artist but I have always wanted to be able to draw so ... I want to get better at drawing this year. I have been practicing almost every day for a couple weeks and yesterday I took a class with the Fabulous Julie Fei-Fan Balzer had so much fun... Here are a couple of pictures... even if they are off the phone...

Now anyone that has seen my handwriting knows this is really good drawing for me :)

Now about sewing... I am working on a plan to help you sew your stash in 2015... you know? #sewmystash2015 So there is a little something coming on that in the next few weeks ... keep an eye out. In the mean time the Patchwork City BOM is almost closed. I am only taking 4 more sign ups for Westside and 6 more sign ups for Metro. So get it while the getting is good :)

Have a super Monday!

  1. Good for you! I can't draw worth a hill of beans :S This year I am focusing on my health too! Oh and I want to re-learn hot to play the piano again. Of course that means I'd need to purchase a piano... so thats a goal for later in the year :D

  2. Happy Monday is usually an oxymoron for me. But today was a good day.

I need to follow your lead and do more exercising and less eating.
My word for the year is REGROUP.

I think your drawing looks great.

  3. I think having a word for the year is a great idea and I'm still trying to nail mine down. I just signed up for a "Move More Eat Well" class through http://BigPictureClasses.com. It's a 30 day workshop, and a creative way to get healthy (just in case you need more inspiration like I did).

  4. Good luck with your goals! I'm with you on the healthy, thanks to the stresses of the current day job, I've packed on over 50 lbs since I started there, it's definitely time to go backwards on the scale!

  5. Oooh that's so awesome Julie, I'm loving that you're drawing more. :D

My word of the year is FOCUS, and the three things I'm focusing on are health, family and art, so as you see we have a bit of overlap going on. :) If you want a art buddy or health buddy, lemme know!!

  6. Fantastic!!! Those are wonderful goals. I have always been a longing artists...watching and wishing I could draw or paint. I bought myself some watercolor pencils and a pad for 2015.

Best of luck with a beautifully drawn, healthy year..with lots of fabric thrown in ;) !
