Making New Friends

Hi Everyone,

I have said it more than once. The best part of opening the Brick and Mortar is getting to meet people that up until that point had only been a few words on a screen. My co-worker Colleen and I got a treat last week when we got to make a new friend from Australia. Molli Sparkles

I received an email Thursday before last saying "I am so excited because I am traveling from Sydney, Australia to San Jose, California this weekend for work, scheduled to arrive around midday on Saturday. I am going to the hotel, and then straight to your shop for some much needed fabric therapy! I have lots of quilty friends who have raved about your selection and overseas deliveries, so I am thrilled to see the shop in person. I do hope you have some Color Me Retro still in stock because I have been waiting to get my hands on that since Jeni announced it! See you soon!"

This is exactly what he did. Straight from jet lag to fabric shopping. My kinda guy! We spent a super fun 4 hours making friends and choosing fabrics. He tells the story much better on his blog here. What I can tell you is... when he left Colleen exclaimed "Favorite Customer Eveeerrrr!"

Woohoo... Moda's Newest Pre-cut

You've heard it was coming and it finally arrived. Moda's newest pre-cut is HoneyComb. I am as obsessed with Hexagons as the next girl so I had to get some of these for the shop. You can find them in the Pre-cut section

Here is what I didn't know when I ordered. They come with a mylar template with marking holes so you can mark where to stop and start for "Y" seams, if you want to machine sew them. And you can use the template to cut other fabrics with. I am so geeking out over that. I have 4 colors right now but will add more if they do well. All of these are marked out of stock at Moda and arriving back in May so if you want them get them soon because it will be a little bit of a wait for them to come back in. The first collection that will be made into Honeycomb is Happy Go Lucky by Bonnie and Camille in May and I have those coming as well.

Friday Fun Day and the Giveaway

Hi Everyone,

I can't believe it is Friday again... the weeks are flying by... If you live in the area come down to our Open Sew day today. Bring your machine and a project and hang out with us. It is completely free. We are opening the classroom up at 1pm and sewing until everyone goes home or 11pm whichever comes first.

There are so many new fabrics in this week. I am having a hard time deciding what to giveaway....

My favorite print is the little yellow and blue floral is is so Liberty -esque... on the other hand I have a hard time choosing because this whole collection is devine.
