Lots of new stuff to share... and a giveaway.

Tuesday, April 19, 2016
Hey Everyone,

So many things to wrap up here and so many fun projects happening...

I went to Sewtopia and got to take classes with Denyse Schmidt and Elizabeth Hartman. I also got to see where the women of Cotton + Steel create their magic. I feel so fortunate and blessed to be able to do things like this....

Here is my Francis Firefly quilt... so in love with these colors.

 This is the pattern and it will be out for sale this summer.

Here is my start of my Free Wheeling Single Girl... I am not making any more rings but I am going to add a top and left side border to it. I want it to hang on my wall at home.

 This shows the colors better.

We also got to see Cotton + Steel's new fabrics at their studio. How much do we love that? I had decided to wait until I could see the prints before I bought them this time and I can officially say the ones that are coming this summer are my favorites so far. We were not allowed to take pictures but I promise you don't want to miss them.

Here are some photos from their sweet studio in Atlanta:

Since I have gotten back from the trip we have had lots of new fabrics arrive...

Here is Alison Glass' Handcrafted Patchwork this picture does not do it justice the colors are out of this world!

We also got Lavish by Katarina Roccella. This gorgeous collection is so sumptuous. Of course you can't go wrong with Art Gallery Fabrics. So soft and drapey.

Then we got two Christmas Collections... I know it is only April but what can we do this is when they send them. You could get a big head start on your Christmas sewing.

Cotton + Steel's Garland is so adorable it matches perfectly with last year's Tinsel and has some smaller scale prints. I am having a hard time deciding my favorite print but the little Reindeer are precious.

We also received Violet Craft's beautiful Christmas on Brambleberry Ridge which contains some of my all time favorite prints that Violet has done in some of her collections... reprinted in holiday colors.

And by Thursday Lizzy House' Whisper Prints should be in ... here is a picture that Andover published of them:

What a lovely lot of low volume prints right? You can purchase them now and we will ship them as soon as they are in.

See I told you there was a lot :)

Here is the Giveaway!

See the brown paper bags in everyone's hands in this picture?
They are filled with goodies from Cotton + Steel. Scraps and stickers and tattoos... and I have some fun things from the swag bag from Sewtopia to add to it. You can win the bag and it's contents by leaving a comment below telling me what you like best about all of the new things I showed. I will draw a winner next Tuesday. Good Luck!

Giveaway is now closed.

Fantastic Fabric Friday... Can you Cha Cha?

Maybe you can shuffle instead :)

First of all let me mention Abacus is in:

Photo Courtesy of Ms. Glass
Pre-orders will ship tomorrow.

We are starting this amazing new program just a little something to spice up your weeks through the Holidays. Something that doesn't induce guilt but that is just for you. A little alone time during the bustle.

We will conducting our own version of the Sampler Block Shuffle. It is a program developed by Moda in which we publish 3 free patterns for quilt blocks each week. Yes, I said free. The patterns are free all you have to do is come to the website every Friday morning and download them. Each set of three will only be available for one week. The next Friday they will be removed and the next three will be displayed. Here is a layout of the quilt. The white squares are where the blocks are placed. The quilt measures 60"by 68".

 The rest of the story:

We are going to use a combination of Canyon by Kate Spain, Simply Colorful 2 by V & Co., and modern low volume prints like (but not limited to) Abacus, Modern Background Paper, and Drawn . So it should be bright and beautiful. Moda says 2 layer cakes and a bit extra should make the blocks so just as there is with layer cakes there will be some duplicates of prints but I think that will make it nice and cohesive.

If you want to see some beautiful Canyon mini's check out this link (click the pictures to enlarge)

1. Get your block patterns on Friday morning on the website or in the store anytime during the week.
2. Monday we will post a picture of our three blocks and offer a kit if you desire to purchase there is not an ongoing obligation you can choose to buy the weeks you want and skip the weeks you don't. Or make the whole thing out of your scraps, we don't judge. For you over achievers, you know who you are, you can choose to make your flying geese at the same time so they are all finished when you are ready to put your quilt together. You will need 6 flying geese per block each week or 18 per week.
3. We will offer a finishing kit reservation. These will be very limited.

Why Not?
I know we are all busy during the holidays and not everyone wants to start a wip right away but why not collect the patterns and a few fat 16ths for a friend as a Christmas present (we finish with the blocks first week of January but it could be the gift that keeps on giving for a week or so) or for yourself as a reward for making it through the Holidays without choking anyone. (You are not going to choke anyone are you?) At the very least come on over to the blog with your coffee on Monday mornings and check out Joanie's progress. Joanie is one of my assistants at the shop and she has graciously agreed to make our blocks for this... since I am still making all of the blocks for the BOM :) Maybe I will make the Flying Geese... or maybe I will just get my coffee and watch too :)

Are you ready? Click here for the first set of blocks

The Market Download

Thursday, October 30, 2014
Hey Everyone,

I know it is one more Market post. I am always a couple days later than everyone. I have great respect for those that can process the information overload known as Quilt Market so quickly and hit the ground running when they get home. I am just not one of those people.

Here is a rare sight... me on a telephone. I hate talking on the phone send me an email any day.

With two of my besties... Sally and Brooke

So what do you say ... want to see some lovelies from Market?

I am so stinkin' proud of our Maureen! I always knew she was brilliant now everyone else does too!

Please excuse the millions of pics about to appear
She won the Best New Exhibitor award. We have her fabric up for pre-sale in the shop and if you didn't know... when you pre-order from us you get one of these amazing exclusive postcards that Maureen offered only to us:

 You can color it and send it in the envelope that will be included or you can keep it for yourself.

I know, I know on to the pics. Here are some pictures of her booth:

Weeeee our Maureen @maureencracknell

And a close up of that amazing pillow!
Eeeeee! @maureencracknell  #quiltmarket

Here is something else I am super excited about:

The new Ellen Luckett Baker collection from Kokka. The sheep, fruit, and scallops are cotton/linen canvas and the other prints are double gauze. We are getting it all in the shop. There are metallics on some of the prints. I think they are done tastefully. Totally in love with every print in this collection.

Speaking of double gauze the girls from Cotton + Steel have collaborated on a double gauze collection to go in there next line.

it is called Bespoke... and I think it will go great with the Ellen Luckett Baker Double Gauze. They had a gorgeous double gauze quilt in the booth and it is so stinkin' soft. I am making one for sure. And it obviously makes great clothes.

I did the order months ago so it should all be in in January.

Okay I am overwhelmed by the pictures again... where to start...

We have Handcrafted in the shop so how about I show those?

Alison's booth was so inspirational. I loved the way she displayed everything.

These are gorgeous. We have Alison's book available in the shop right now. It is about Applique. Her stitching is so fun!

And just a few pictures to show how great it is for clothes:

@alisonglass  loving this booth!
You know I have to make this sweater too right?

Need to make clothes out of this!

Too much eye candy yet?? NEVER!!!

Tula Pink's booth never ceases to amaze... I didn't know you could get that much pink into that small of a space. :) I love that the Queen Elizabeth print is called 16th Century Selfie.

This is our Jessica Darling, being a princess. She is coming to the shop in December to teach a color class. I am told it will amaze you and free your mind (by people who have taken it, not Jessica) :)

@jessicakdarling  you are a princess

This is Biology by Sarah Watson for Cloud 9. It is organic... and arriving in December at the shop:
@cantoneverettdelaware3rd  just for you

And here are Bonnie Christine's two new collections that will be arriving in spring:

Cultivate

and Hello Bear
Hello Bear by @goinghometoroost so precious #latergram #quiltmarket

Here is April Rhodes' Wanderer. One of the prints has her photographs on it. I think it is a lovely follow up to her Arizona.

@aprilarhodes  Wanderer!

And here is our friend Sarah in her cute booth:

@sewsweetness  So adorable!

Carolyn Friedlander's Doe is on the way in December. We have a giveaway for a charm pack here. As always it is very architectural and spare in the best of ways.

Okay... I have been writing this post for 3 hours... time to get something else done. I will leave you with some pictures of people that we love!

@katespain  #quiltmarket

Kate Spain

Hello Kate Spain! @katespain and my favorite girls @sallykeller814 @sillymamaquilts @bryanhousequilts

And Pat Bravo my sweet sweet friend and mentor.

@patbravodesign Thanks for another lesson in life. We love you!

One last thing... Going to Market gives us the chance to make lovely new friends. I was fortunate to meet Emma Jean Jansen the designer of Terra Australis and it just so happens she has an aunt that lives very close to me. So as she was on her way home to Australia she stopped to visit her aunt and .... came to the shop to visit us. Here she is yesterday posing with her fabric in the shop:

Emma Jean Jansen

There are a few more pictures to show, of course, but for now... I say so long :)
