Rolling Stone Block Tutorial

Hey Everyone,

It is called Rolling Stone or Broken Wheel ...

Cut:

1 1/2" Squares - 4 of light print, 12 of background fabric
1 1/2" x 2 1/2" Rectangles - 4 of light print, 4 of dark print
2 1/2" Squares - 5 (I fussy cut one for the center but you don't have to) dark print

Instructions:

Mark a line on the back of all 1 1/2" squares diagonally. To make your flip and sew corners

Sew three background corner squares (1 1/2")  and one light print corner (1 1/2")  to each of four dark print squares (2 1/2"). And sew the long side of the 4 light and four dark print rectangles together. You should have four sections each that look like this:

Layout your sections in a nine patch like this:

Sew in rows and then sew the three rows together and voila.


I made this a really simple tutorial so if you need any clarification let me know. This will turn out the same as the other blocks at 6 1/2" unfinished.

Hi Everyone,

The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated. I have had a cold but nothing life threatening :) I have just been working behind the scenes trying to set up some new and exciting things for the New Year over here. a new newsletter is coming out today... you won't want to miss it. The long anticipated Doe has arrived minus one bolt that I am told won't arrive until February... who knows? It is a crazy industry... but oh so pretty.....

We also got this gorgeous... like I could eat it up... Petal & Plume by Bari J. The peacocks are gorgeous and the colors are so sumptuous... I love Art Gallery. I adore the feather prints and bought the knit of the navy feather print too... have to think up a new clothing project for it.

Art Gallery also added a few new solids and they are so rich they look like silk:

And... some adorable canvas for making bags... or covering chair cushions... oh my. It is called Geo Pop

 Oops I forgot to mention... I also created this custom bundle called Frosty New Year just for you... it makes me happy and was inspired by that bird print from Anna Maria on the top... love the colors she put in that print... you can find it in fat quarters and half yards in the shop,

Doe Sightings on the Horizon

It's true I just got shipping confirmation for the Fat Quarter Bundles. If you would like to pre-order a fat quarter bundle you can find it here Awesome Sauce Fabric it should be in in a few days. Then hopefully the yardage will be in in the next week or so.

Fabric Friday... in case you're wondering... Doe

Hi Everyone,

I know we are all impatiently waiting for Doe. I am right there with you (luckily I have a tiny bit to play with from Sample Spree). You might have seen bolts being shown around and wonder "why don't we have it yet?" ... for some reason it made it to Canada and UK distributors before it made it to the US. We will be one of the first shops to get it once it is here because Kaufman is in California so it gets here within 2 days for us. I promise it is coming... and I hate waiting more than anyone I know. :)

This week we got Ashton Road by Valori Wells I picked my favorites from this collection it is fun and playful. I love the border stripe of tree houses and the way it is printed you could get a yard and make two table runners just by cutting it down the middle. It is printed back to back so each side of the table would have the tree houses right side up... so brilliant!

I have been sewing this week. I can't wait to show you... hopefully I will have time to finish up some things this weekend.

It's Raining....

Literally and ... Literally... It is raining outside and due to the kind of roof the shop has every year it rains inside the shop as well. Until the roofers come out and fix it, again, every year. This time it was over the computer desk... oh joy! Last year it was in about 8 places over the fabric shelves... luckily we caught the leaks (with garbage cans) before we had any wet fabrics.

Yep, that's Botanics... some of it got here yesterday but 8 bolts were delayed getting to the warehouse so they will be a week or two later... mostly because of the Holiday weekend next week. These arrived a week earlier than I expected. We will have bundles back up for sale as soon as the rest comes in.
